Living the Double Life

I hadn’t realized how tricky keeping two diaries on DD was going to be. I’m trying to be careful about not posting to the two at simultaneous times. I doubt that any members of the virtual community I keep the diary for are spending much time reading any diaries other than our own, but there’s always that chance. That meant that yesterday, after posting a big update to the other diary, I wasn’t easily able to update this one. I’m probably being too big a worry-wart about it, but it’s going to take a little time before I convince myself that I’m not goint to get caught out.

The Professor tweaked the code for the message board a bit on Friday. The usual cries of “But I liked it better the old way” weren’t as apparent as they usually are, but for the most part, the changes were subtle. Since many of the changes required IE 5.5, many of the community’s denizens wouldn’t have even been aware of the changes, had not others posted complaints about them.

Next Sunday is Mother’s Day … I’m curious what, if anything, my two sisters will want to do. I would be content to quietly visit Mom’s grave on my own. I think it would do me good to visit my parent’s gravesites anyhow, since I haven’t been there since the funeral last September. Knowing the Sisters, though, they’ll want to get together for dinner. I suppose if I want to duck that I’d better look into making alternate plans now, so I can have my butt covered when they bring it up later this week.

There was supposed to be mail waiting for me at the ex’s house in a bag on the back door. Most of what goes there is junk mail at this point, and I’ve told him he can throw out the obvious advertisements and unsolicited journals, but he never does. I’m a little surprised that the junk mailers haven’t gotten my new address yet, but so far I’ve gotten blessed little professional junk mail at my new address. I probably should check my address at the AVMA and see if they actually changed my files. Anyhow, When I got to the house, there was no mail waiting for me. I don’t yet know what happened – if he decided not to leave it out for me because of the threat of rain, or if he forgot. I’ll have to e-mail him later and arrange for alternate pick-up plans.

The ex’s sister’s birthday is tomorrow. I have a card for her which hasn’t actually found its way to the mailbox yet. I know his family is fairly displeased with me over leaving him. He even told me NOT to send a birthday card to his mother in January. I’d best get that in the mail today, if only because it makes me look better than they do. No point in giving his family more ammunition than they already have against me.

My plan to redo the balcony is taking shape. I got a cute little bistro table and two chair set over the weekend, and am hoping to get some plants this coming weekend, when we’ll have passed the frost free date for this area. I just wish the balcony got more sun. I’m going to have to settle for partial to full shade plants, which limits what I can do.
