KfH is growing up.

Kitten from Hell was in prime hellion mode this past weekend. My personal favorite escapade involves her actually getting into the cupboard, stealing a pack of Pounce tartar control treats, and ripping the pack open in the middle of the carpet between the living room and dining room. The Professor got to witness all this; for once I wasn’t the one on KfH clean-up duty. I begin to worry though – if she’s capable of getting into the cupboards, then I’m going to have to move the Clueless Wonder’s beta-blocker meds. They are stored right next to the cat treats, since he gets his pill embedded in a treat every evening.

Somehow, seven furry toy mice have managed to go missing in the apartment again. I still have half a dozen new ones, but I’d rather figure out where the old toys got to before I get her new ones out. I can only see her jingle-ball under the hutch. I guess I’m going to have to check out under the beds tonight.

I’ve moved KfH to adult food. The Clueless Wonder is nearly down to 13 pounds now, so I made plans to move him off kitty-lite and onto regular food when his latest bag of Iams diet ran out. In anticipation of having two cats on real cat food, I bought a ten pound bag of regular adult chow. Last night, CW used up the last of his diet food, so I dumped the ten pounds of new cat food into the storage bin and put the bag next to the trash can (it too big to fit in the trash can, which already had a fair amount of stuff in it). I imagine most of you who are familiar with KfH’s habits know where this is going. This morning I witnessed the bag of food moving out of the kitchen, apparently under its own power. Of course, KfH was hidden on the other side of the bag, dragging it out to the living room. I didn’t bother taking a picture, since the shot would have looked like an empty bag of cat food lying on the floor. KfH was well pleased with her find, and dismayed when I took it away from her. Overstuffed or not, the kitchen trash bin received one more item before I left for work this morning.

I guess that, with the advent of moving her to adult food, KfH is officially no longer a “K”. Anyone with suggestions of a new pseudonym for her is welcome to submit their ideas here.

Tonight I start my Latin class. I’m looking forward to it as much as a chance to socialize as anything else. I love words though, and I’m hoping that the teacher takes opportunities to point out root derivations of English words from the Latin when appropriate. By coincidence, the Professor’s evening class on Mondays is in the same building, just a few doors down from where mine will be. That means we’ll be able to go in together (after this week – he has to go in early today, and I won’t be able to get home in time to go in with him). His class ends an hour after mine does, but that just gives me a chance to read uninterrupted. Chances like that come few and far between anymore.
