Playing with Thumbnails

Adolescent Cat from Hell has yet to figure out she’s gotten too big to shoulder-perch any more. This is her a mere hour ago, attempting to get as much of herself balanced on my shoulder as possible.

Let’s see if I’ve finally got the coding for thumbnails figured out….

  1. The Sphere was heart-rendingly bad.

Perhaps you should remind the professor next time he tries reading over your shoulder what is the original fine & private place and that he can be assisted in arriving at his early on. (It might not work for the professor, but it sure works for S. The trick, I think, is to believe you can do it yourself. ;))

  2. Hi Sal:

One night, I was writing an email to my 1st daughter and Sox was behind me. I caught him reading and asked him whats up with that? He asked me who am I writing to? He figured that I was sending to a guy! ~D~O~H…

    * do you want me to kick Prof’s ass for ya? * ::grins::

    Hugs to you. *~*A.O.*~*

  3. Wow – your living room/computer set-up sounds exactly like mine… the sofa (futon from hell) is directly behind my computer desk, so if I’m on while S is in the room, he can see what I’m doing… it doesn’t bother me though as he knows about DD and all that. Still, I know how you feel wanting some privacy… and the scary part is that S’s computer is in the spare bedroom…just like The Prof’s! My suggestion? Next time he’s working on his computer in his separate private room, go on in and make yourself comfortable until he asks what’s up. Tell him you didn’t think he’d mind since he does it to you when you’re working on your computer… 🙂

    PS thanks for the comments.

  4. Ahhh the old battle of computer privacy. I remember it well. I always used to do as you do and would make a point to clear the area when the ex was online… but when it was my turn he’d sit in the extra chair and watch my every move!!! GRRR. On many occasions I would stop what I was doing and turn and look at him and ask, "Can I HELP YOU?" LOL. This can be a bug under your skin for a while if you don’t say something right off… so good luck with it! 😉

I love the comment about the cat having the mentality of a pet rock. LMAO. Thanks for all the comments lately… definitely appreciate it. It’s like a little boost to me each time. 🙂 Have a nice night sweety!!!

  5. *hug* I’m sorry you had a poor night’s sleep, and I hope things are better tonight. Have you looked into the EarthWatch thing any further?

  6. if my boy spent enough time away from his own computer to look over my shoulder, that would surely, surely annoy me. if we had a cat, though, there’s no way he’d volunteer to clean up its spill. he’d probably yell at me about how stupid the cat is.

hope you got a good night’s sleep, though, sal 🙂

  7. Very interesting entry…..I was totally *there*…..LOL

That *sucks* about the computer privacy thing. It is things like that that make me glad I don’t have a man. 🙂 (Tell me things like that more often.) 🙂

  8. Maybe there’s a struggle over seperateness and individuality going on here?

    Many men have this problem.

Many women encourage it – they like feeling ‘needed’.

Ahhh, do mothers have much to answer for?

Eg. Why wouldn’t he know to wash the mats?

Interesting, isn’t it? Annoying too, obviously.

    Take care

  10. Ohhhh thumbnails!!! Tell ya what I know. I played with this in my own diary only recently.

Here are two ways of doing it – and there are other options. Each method below has its own advantages so it’s a trade off.

    (album 12117 ShoulderKitten1.JPG thumblink)

NB: replace the ()’s with []’s so it comes out like:

    [album 12117 ShoulderKitten1.JPG thumblink]

    THIS!!!!!!!!!!! TA DA!!!

This method loads a fast thumbnail but slow full size image since it is loading two images, small then big.

    Another way:

    <a href="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic.php/12117/ShoulderKitten1.JPG&quot; target="_blank"><IMG height=46 width=96 SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic.php/12117/ShoulderKitten1.JPG"></a&gt;

That links the same image for thumb and full size picture so it is slower loading but faster displaying. It is also standard html whereas the other shorthand method is pecuiliar to DD.

I personally like the second method, even though it’s more complex.

Oohhh, matter of personal choice I guess.

  11. PS: I see you are using the thumb but loading the full size image as well in a seperate window.

    Soooooooooo –

    <a href="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic.php/12117/ShoulderKitten1.JPG&quot; target="_blank"><IMG SRC="http://album.atomic-systems.com/showPic.php/12117/ShoulderKitten1.JPG/1"></a&gt;

My guess is you are using that html. Advantages – fast thumb, seperate window for fill size jpg. Disadvanteges – slower load of full size jpg.

There are quite a few options – fun, isn’t it? 🙂

  12. TKO’ed your digestive track? That is good, I am going to remember that.

Know what you mean about computer privacy, my computer is right by our dining room table. Makes it hard to do DD entries, but great for keeping up on the kids online activities.

Nice pic, would have liked a pic of you trying to take it 🙂

I spotted an A & P book on the shelves.

Tell the professor to give his students an easy math test. What level is he teaching?

  13. Thumbnails! I want to learn to do thumbnails. (green eyed monster rears). I’m finding that the HTML 4 for Dummies book was written for people who are less dumb than me. But I’m getting it, slowly. I’ve figured out how to add color and how to do a style guide at the head of my document. Next I want to do transparencies and then make my lists run in columns. All kinds of fun HTML exploring ahead. 🙂
