Apartments and movies.

Tried to call the apartment complex that we want to move to over the weekend (as per their instructions) only to find that the offcie was unmanned over the weekend. Which means we still don’t know if there’s a three bedroom opening up soon. And of course I forgot to bring their number with me to work today. **grumble**

I’m out of cat food. Must remember to buy cat food on the way home … must remember to buy cat food on the way home … must remember to buy cat food on the way home…. This is apparently my new mantra for the next few hours.

The Prof got a letter from The Big City community college close to us … thanks but don’t call us, we’ll call you. Things still look promising for the position at the next county over’s community college, though, and it would be a far preferable job than the Big City position would have been anyhow. Still, I know the rejection stung The Prof a bit. Job hunting is a bitch.

As for me. Work sucks. ‘Nuff said.

Watched 2010 and “Meet Joe Black” over the weekend. “Meet Joe Black was THREE hours long. It could easily have been trimmed back a half an hour, possibly more, without significantly impacting the story line. Might have even made the film a bit stronger. I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t nearly as dark a movie as I thought it would be. “Death takes a Holiday” meets Hollywood fluff I guess.

I got nitpicky about 2010. For example, there were three pods and only three pods on Discovery in 2001. All three pods got used and never made it back to Discovery. So how was there a pod left on Discovery in the second movie? Also, why does HAL complain that he’ll have to redirect the antenna away from the Leoniv at the end of the movie so he can transmit to earth? He specifically says that he won’t be able to transmit data on the changes happening on Jupiter to Leoniv if he send’s Dave’s message to Earth. Yet, when he sends Dave’s message to Earth, the Leoniv gets the message too. Either Hal didn’t have to redirect the antenna or the Leoniv should have never gotten the message. You figure out which. It’s too much for me.

2001 was better.

Went to my new bank to complain that I hadn’t gotten my checks for my new account yet. They checked, resubmitted the order, and gave me some temporary checks to hold me over till the new checks come. It’s exasperating that I still don’t have my checks, but I certainly can’t complain about the service there. Much better than my old bank. Just wish I’d get the new checks so I could finish closing my old bank accounts out and get everything moved to one spot.

The summer looks like it will have a handful of business trips in it. Nashville, TN in July and Little Rock in August. I hope neither fall into the window of opportunity for moving.
