One small cat.

One small cat changes coming home to an empty house to coming home.

Clueless Wonder continues to improve. Granted, he’s improving far too slowly for my tastes, but he is improving. His vet, who was a classmate of mine, told me yesterday evening that Clueless was the first of an influx of cats that started coming into their practice Sunday evening with identical symptoms. So the evidence is mounting that this is some sort of infectious kitty intestinal bug (which is a huge relief). I’d love to know why Clueless caught it when the other two didn’t, but his heart condition probably accounts for that. My guess is that his immune system simply isn’t as robust as the other two cats’.

Anyhow, Clueless is now actively asking for food, and he’s finally had a bowel movement (yeah, I know … share too much). He’s still spending most of his time laying around the apartment looking tragic, but then when he’s well he spends most of his time laying around the apartment anyhow, so all I have to do is get him to lose the “tragic” part and we’ll be home free. The Prof and I watched the first half of “Pi” last night, and Clueless snuck onto the couch and fell asleep between us with his head on The Prof’s lap. Clueless took up far more than his share of the sofa, but it’s hard to be annoyed at him at the moment. I’m just glad he felt good enough to finally leave his cat bed.

We’ve got a big entourage of VIP’s from D.C. today. I’d been hoping I could keep a low profile – the last thing I needed/wanted was to get roped into that tour. I just got a phone call now dashing those hopes, though. This is the sort of stuff they never prepared us for in vet school.
