I’ve been keeping myself busy.

Well, I’m alot closer now to what I was originally hoping for in the Palimpsest decor department. I really wanted to go with something more tan, but tweaking in some yellow makes the contrast better, and makes things easier to read. I probably won’t stop tweaking, but I am going to give it a rest for the time being.

I’m tickled that others have been picking up on my idea for a comment board. With luck, we won’t have to depend on the site admins for a quick solution … we may have found one ourselves! I like this format because it allows other people to respond to comments, so you can end up with one nice long conversational thread. I hate the pop-ups, and I may end up paying for a “premium account” to kill those if I end up sticking with this for the long haul. Since this gives me much more control over comments than Dear Diary’s comment program does (I can go in and delete more easily, and I can give others the ability to go back and edit their own posts if they want, in case the typo demons strike), I might even stick with this when Comments returns. Guess I’ll have to wait and see what the new Comment Section looks like before making that decision though.

I did get my hair done yesterday. Brown with red highlights, and far, far better than Clairol was doing for me! I also have what I consider to be the greatest style I’ve ever had in my adult life. I got the stylist’s card, and I’m going to ask for her every time. It’s amazing how good a little pick-me-up like that can make you feel!

Today I went grocery shopping. It was a LONG overdue chore, and I think it’s the first time we ever completely filled the back of The Socialist’s Matrix with groceries. It was snowing when we went shopping, and the wind gusts made it feel miserable, even though it was relatively warmer today than it has been in a while (it went all the way up to 32 degrees). Now I at least have the preparations for making some dinners, and snacking healthy. Palimpsest cannot live on Sweet Tarts alone I suspect.

Palimpsest also can’t wait to be tapped tomorrow. I won’t be surprised if they get nearly another 8 liters out of me. I can’t stand looking this way. There is absolutely no way to hide this bulging abdoment anymore … even under bulky winter coats.

I made the mistake of listening to one of the director’s of the United National Organ Sharing program on NPR radio Friday. He was quoting statistics. I know better than to listen to statistics, since they don’t apply to individuals. But the number of people who were on transplant waiting lists last year and died without getting their new organ was absolutely appalling. It works out to a one in four chance of eventually getting your organ. I honestly had no idea the chances for getting a donated organ were so low; my doctor has always dodged questions like that, emphasizing instead that I have every chance to believe I’ll get my opportunity. My doctor is smart. He knows I didn’t need to hear this.

I hope summer comes early this year. I’m tired of being cold. If that darned groundhog sees his shadow on February second, will someone please go out and shoot him for me?
