So did the Socialist ever get his flu shot and if so, how did he handle the needle?

So far, he’s handled the needle just fine. His mode of handling it is avoidance; if you don’t get the flu shot you don’t need to face the needle. He’s interested in perhaps getting the inhaled vaccination instead, but doesn’t want to face figuring out his insurance so he can go to the doctor to ask for it.

Pali, do you feel your life reflects that of a lab rat?

=p

Not really. They have all kinds of rules and regulations that protect lab rats from abuse at the hands of doctors. For example, you have to provide food and water to the lab rat if you keep it waiting too long, unless the test requires food deprivation. Lab rats also get a nice comfy place to sleep if they get bored while they’re waiting. All I got was Regis and Ditzy-pooh, and a water cooler.

[regarding the Socialist’s witticisms] WHy, oh why, does he show his affection that way? :o)~

I think for the same reason that birds of paradise display their feathers and big-horn sheep butt heads. It’s a basic, sexually driven instinct to make the female of the species roll her eyes in exasperation.

We’ve a fairly new Boston Market, did you lose one?

We’ve lost several, but now I’m beginning to suspect that they haven’t been lost, but rather have been stolen.

Update on my office’s heat pump: There is nothing to update on my office’s heat pump. The unit is still busted, and there’s still no word on when it’ll be fixed. At least it’s in the sixties today, making my office far more comfortable than it was on Monday. It’s more legal to bundle up against the cold than it is to strip down because of the heat.

I’ve spent a fair amount of today distracted by a comment made by my hit-and-run doctor of yesterday. He asked if they’d tested me for a certain disease, because my bloodwork showed a particular abnormality. I responded that they had tested me a year ago, and the results were negative. That was it. He didn’t suggest any further tests, didn’t tell me to keep an eye out for anything, essentially didn’t do squat.

Frankly, I don’t want to have to endure the test for this disease again. It’s painful, easily the most painful thing I had to endure during this entire liver episode save for the post-operative period. And I’m also frightened. If I were to test positive for this disease, then my liver failure, my enlarged spleen, my headaches, my vision changes, even my shortness of breath would be explained. I know that when I see Dr. Liver next week, I’m going to have to bring this to his attention. And that’s probably going to lead to another biopsy.

At least the amendments to the state constitution that will allow children to testify in court by video or closed-circuit television passed. That gives me one less thing to feel guilty about.
