And the Great Cosmic Joke Continues

You may or may not recall that Thursday I mentioned I came home exhausted, and chose to nap for an hour rather than go to the movies, as was our original plan. What I failed to mention at that time was that, after the nap, I woke up with a crick in my neck. I took a Tylenol (something I am permitted to use, but must be sparing) at bedtime, and when I woke up it was mostly gone.

Friday I came home with sore right shoulder. I figured I’d been a little too athletic, and had pulled some muscles. I again took a Tylenol at bedtime.

Saturday I awoke to pain in my neck, shoulder, and right arm. I could make it worse by moving, but there was no position that really made it better. I did my best to ignore it, and proceeded with a mostly normal day.

This morning I awoke to pain in my neck, shoulder, right arm and tingling in my index and middle finger. I’ll make a doctor’s appointment for tomorrow, but I know what it has to be.

I have a history of disc problems in my neck. It was first diagnosed in the summer of ’96, and was successfully treated with physical therapy. The symptoms at that time were tingling and lessened sensitivity to touch in my right arm. The doctor treating me told me I had fully ruptured one disc, and another was bulging. He was amazed I was in no pain, but it never really hurt.

It hurts like hell now.

My life is a frigging joke.

That is awful. Disk problems can be extremely painful not to mention debilitating. Hopefully with some hot and cold compresses, it will feel better.

I am not up on what you can and cannot take so is anti-inflammatory therapy out?

Hope the appointment goes well. Good luck.

  2. Geez, Salamander, you never catch a break, do you?

Well, maybe a repeat course of the physical therapy will do the trick.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
