From Toverfee to me:

Recommend To Me:
1. A movie.
2. A book.
3. A musical artist, song, or album.
4. A DDiarist not on my friends list.
5. Something to do in the next two months; something daring or adventuresome.

And Alli – the stupid 24/7 grocery store stacks the Pepperidge Farm cake boxes ON THEIR SIDES! In fact, most local grocery stores stack them that way, because that way the picture of the cake displays to the shoppers. If you buy one that has been stacked that way, you’ll find it slid to the down-side of the box and that side is smushed with all the icing pulled off. That’s why I waited until this afternoon to purchase the Pepperidge Farm cake at my regular grocery store. Acme knows how to stack Pepperidge Farm cakes correctly, so that they arrive home intact.

How very strange. I posted this entry after the one beneath it, yet it shows as the first entry of the day. There appear to be gremlins on the march again.

  1. Uh oh.

This of course means that the carob, chocolate chip scones that I make would not tempt you?

Warm from the oven, with honey drizzled over them, they make a very convincing treat.

But I could make you apple cinnamon ones if you prefer. Or cranberry, or blueberry, or oatmeal.

But they would all be triangles I’m afraid.

I bet we could find one you liked. :-)))

    Y.

  2. YOu didn’t hit the freezer section to see if there was any Peppridge Farms or Sara Lee chocolate cake with chocolate icing?

  3. I just got this in my e-mail:

"I recently had a neighbor who had to have their 5-year old German Shepherd dog put down due to liver failure. The dog was completely healthy until a few weeks ago, so they had a necropsy done to see what the cause was. The liver levels were unbelievable, as if the dog had ingested poison of some kind. The dog is kept inside, and when he’s outside, someone’s with him, so the idea of him getting into something unknown was hard to believe. My neighbor started going through all the items in the house. When he got to the Swiffer Wetjet, he noticed, in very tiny print, a warning which stated "may be harmful to small children and animals." He called the company to ask what the contents of the cleaning agent are and was astounded to find out that anitfreeze is one of the ingredients. (actually he was told it’s a compound which is one molecule away from anitfreeze). Therefore, just by the dog walking on the floor cleaned with the solution, then licking it’s own paws, and the dog eating from its dishes which were kept on the kitchen floor cleaned with this product, it ingested enough of the solution to destroy its liver. Soon after his dog’s death, his housekeepers’ two cats also died of liver failure. They both used the Swiffer Wetjet for quick cleanups on their floors. Necropsies weren’t done on the cats, so they couldn’t file a lawsuit, but he asked that we spread the word to as many people as possible so they don’t lose their animals."

    As for the recommendations…

    1. A movie: The Hours. If you haven’t seen it yet? Also, everybody should see Amelie, it’s a must. I promise to watch Casablanca (it’s black and white, urrh :D) if you promise to watch The Hours and Amelie. If you’ve seen them both let me know and I’ll suggest something else.

    2. A book: Grotesque by Patrick McGrath. I sincerely think you could get kicks out of it, fantastic humour. Also, Karen Duve’s Rain is a book I read recently and it’s been on my mind ever since. Then there’s OF COURSE Wally Lamb’s She’s Come Undone, I loved it, but I don’t know if it would be your thing…? Hmm. I could recommend countless of books.

    3. Let’s see. You like Dar Williams. Have you ever listened to Ani DiFranco? Maybe she’s not your cup of tea, I don’t know. I like her, especially the album Reckoning/Revelling (or the other way round).

I want to recommend a few Tori Amos songs to you because I think you might enjoy her newer stuff (Scarlet’s Walk album and the "Scarlet’s Hidden Treasures" cd that comes with the new Welcome To Sunny Florida DVD):

    – Pancake

    – Scarlet’s Walk

    – Bug A Martini

    – Taxi Ride

    – I Can’t See New York

    – Putting The Damage On (from the album Boys for Pele)

OK I’m just gonna stop that list right there because I found myself thinking about a few too many songs heh. You know how it is. Anyway, I mean it that you MIGHT like the newer stuff. Try her on for me :).

    4. I don’t think I read any diaries that you don’t read. Hold on. Yeah, I read so few diaries. Of course you already read Sezrah, right?

I’m going to give you an interesting link instead: http://www.52projects.com/index.html

I feel a bit lame now ’cause I actually already have that link in my diary menu. Oh well!

    5. Take a bus or train (or a car, if you insist…) to somewhere pretty close to you but where you’ve never really been and photograph your trip, try to make it your own little adventure.

  4. Recommending to you:

    1. A movie: Erskineville Kings

(It’s an Australian flick, hard to find, and you will need to see if your VCR will play the format it is in. Well worth it though.)

    2. A book: One For The Money by Janet Evanovich

(No heavy reading here. Pure fluff, but fun)

    3. An Album: Facing Future by Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo’ole

    4. A DDiarist not on your friends list: MangoRain

    5. Something to do in the next two months; something daring or adventuresome: Take a cruise to Alaska. http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=83

  5. On the URL I gave, did you notice the "Save up to 75% on last minute cruises" link?

I’m all about coupons, discounts and sales. My family would never have any vacations without them!

  6. A large number of my broken links are to websites (such as news sites) that no longer have that page/story/item available. There are also one or two websites that just plain don’t exist anymore. The Atomic vs. Hami pics are also banes to my link existence. Hopefully I can start getting them fixed this week.

Regarding scones, they are a treat we get every year at the fair here. You can buy the mixes and make them yourself.
