Brief and Insane

I have a dental appointment at 5:00 this afternoon (yuck) and was hoping to duck out a tad earlier than I need to for that so I can get some stuff signed at the doctor’s office. I’ve needed to get release forms signed there for three weeks now, but I can’t find the time to go and get it done. I hate that they don’t have evening hours … it really makes life difficult some times. Anyhow, the paperwork will have to remain unsigned for at least the time being, because I’m getting slammed at work and there is no way I can afford to take off any earlier than I have to for the dentist.

I’ll have to go straight to the dentist from here, and then straight to class from the dentist. This has me somewhat dismayed, since I’ve managed to make quite a mess of myself at work today. I’m afraid the dental technician is just going to have to put up with the smell, though. I’ll sit in the back of the room in class and hope nobody notices.

Tomorrow night is a meeting down town for the donor awareness organizations’ volunteers. They hold it the third Wednesday of each month. I keep saying I’m going to go, and somehow never do. My intent is to make it down there tomorrow, but we’ll see how burnt out I am by then.

Dekyi is continuing to do well, and I’m continuing to have conniptions about finding a home for her. I had it in the back of my head that someone would have succumbed to her charms by today, but it isn’t happening. She’s going to end up a shelter kitty, I guess. There are worse fates, but I’d have liked to see her safely placed. She loves being handled, she’s using her litter box appropriately, and she’s gained a quarter of a pound since her admission, making her cuter than ever. I’m just going to have to keep plugging away and hope for the best.

  1. You’ve undoubtedly thought of this, but just in case: does your company have a newsletter that you could put cute Dekyi pics in? Or at least her heartstring-tugging story?

  2. I wish I could take her *sigh*. Logistically speaking, it would be a nightmare as I am several hundred miles away from you and an hour and a half from the nearest airport. I know that people ship animals all the time but the idea scares the shit out of me, especially with the temp already in the low 90s.

  3. I have seriously given thought on her too. Part of it is expense in flying her here. It’s too bad we weren’t closer, there is plenty of room here on this farm. Marvin is leaving with Ashley when she moves out, so I will be down to one cat.

I need to make an appointment at the dentist for a cleaning. Yuck.

  4. Poor little homeless kitty…

We found the other 2 kittens from the litter where we found the first one here. We found a home for the first one, but the other 2 are still sticking close to mama. We figure she’d run off the first one because she was obviously the runt of the litter and also had some illness, but the vet managed to take care of that and she’s healthy as can be now.
