I’m not going to Disneyland

8:29 – The Auditor should be here at any time now. There is nothing further I can do to prepare. All that’s left now is to ride the wave in.

8:55 – Half an hour late, but here at last.

11:54 – It could be worse.

12:14 – The end is tantalizingly close. The Mouth is taking him to the Little Boss’s office to look at some training paperwork. I’m waiting at my desk with growing impatience for paperwork from my facilities management group. The guy seems *really* taken with our facility and our documentation for the most part. I want to feel relieved, but I also want that paperwork. Where are those guys?

12:22 – Still waiting …. Please, don’t let the audit get goofed up now. We’re almost done.

1:45 – YES! Final score: 99 out of 100 possible points. The downside: we’ve set the bar damned high for next year’s audit.

2:30 – A quick run to Wendy’s for a victory burger and fries. I know I shouldn’t, but I haven’t eaten all day, and I’ve earned it.

3:02 – A congratualatory memo out to all concerned, and arrangements made for pizza party for the guys in the two departments who did their absolute best to make this happen. Seven pizzas is a small price to pay for near perfection.

And now what? Others celebrate Olympian sized feats by following through on “I’m going to Dizzyworld”. There’s no way in hell I’d head for Florida this weekend, even if I could. I’m allergic to hurricanes.

I’m heading to Cape May. Shopping, eating, birding, shelling, more eating …. Look out NJ! Here I come!

Yay! Congrats for your score on your audit! *big hugs for you*

No way would I go to florida at this point in time. NJ sounds fine to me, even Cape Cod sounds good at this point. Have a great vacation!

  2. Ironically, this is the only season when you can get anything done in Disney. All the storm and hurricane madness keeps enough of the kiddies away so that you can walk around and everything. I find the giant vermin more objectionable than an itsy bitsy tropical storm warning to tell you the truth.

Now it’s back to Steel Magnolias for me. Shudder.

  3. 99 p.c!! WTG!

This year’s hurricanes seem to have some sort of an attitude, some might even have the audacity to show up at Cape May. But they won’t be showing up THIS weekend.

  4. Re Alien Fresh Jerky, we went to the one in Baker, CA, probably the one you went to. I actually think they are a chain in a couple of other towns, though.

No, we didn’t do Mt. Ryan for the simple reason that our map had brief descriptions of each attraction and that one didn’t say anything about interesting flora or fauna, and that was what we were looking for. Too bad we didn’t go there. On the other hand, we did get in plenty of hiking at Hidden Valley and Forty-nine Palms Oasis so I don’t know if we’d have wanted to do another couple of miles.

    Congratulations on your audit!

If you haven’t had that oil change yet I wanted to mention that I often go to those quick oil change places that don’t require an appointment or to garages that are open after I get off work. I think you get off early so that might be an option. I don’t think that most car warranties require you to go to the dealership for oil change if that’s where you thought you had to go.
