RE: The Right to Sue

What you are missing, 404, is that I never said I was suing. The store indicated that their insurance company would take care of it. I submitted two claims and a form to their representatives, who might have been insurance brokers or lawyers, it was never clear. I got a letter back saying that they’ve determined it wasn’t their responsibility, and they ain’t paying. OK, maybe they didn’t phrase it quite like that, but my last entry was too long so I’m summarizing.

If I don’t have the thousand bucks to fix my car, I sure don’t have money to hire a lawyer and attempt to sue them. Even if I chose to go that route, it doesn’t guarantee that they’ll pay, and I can’t afford to sue and lose.

At this point I cut my losses and bad mouth them whenever possible. If I can’t make it worth their while one way, I can at least make sure that they lose more than if they’d made good on their original assurances.

  1. My goodness! Those are $100 answers to two-bit questions! No wonder that kid was looking like he’d hit the jackpot!

As for that other grocery store "declining" to accept responsibility for the damage their cart caused, isn’t the federal government the only entity in this country that decides who can sue them and who can’t? What am I missing here?

  2. Wow. I doubt I would have thought that quickly and thoroughly of good answers like that in the middle of an interview. I think if I have a job interview at some point, I’ll steal some of those points.

  3. Checkpoint Charlie? *giggles madly*

A friend of mine lost her job of 19 years recently and was called for an interview at a large insurer for a help desk position. I talked to her later and she said it was a cattle call as there were 60 other people there to interview for that one position.

I’m sure the guy WAS impressed with your answers. Hell, I’M impressed with your answers and wish like hell you worked anywhere around here because customer service is dead as a door stop (just read my latest entry about the VA and you get the general gist of that kind of thing around here). It’s almost like they go out of their way to be rude and indifferent.
