Earth Tones

I’ve got a new project that I’ve been working on this week, making some beads that fit an earth-tone theme. Given my druthers I tend towards the cool colors, so working with warm, earthy tones is a bit of a new experience. I particularly was hoping to come up with something that would approximate an amber, but the best I could do was more of a topaz. I did discover a really nice moonstone type glass that I want to spend more time playing with though, and I finally managed to perfect a swirl technique I’ve been fooling with for over a year.

I just stuck this week’s beads in the kiln this morning. It’ll take about twelve hours to cook them, so I’ll see tonight if any don’t survive the annealing process. If all goes well, I’ll get them shipped tomorrow, or Monday at the latest.
