Television on the Edge of Forever
I completely missed the 45th anniversary of the premier of original Trek last week. For others who care, this is a great little article:

“One is never sure, watching two cats washing each other, whether it’s affection, the taste or a trial run for the jugular.” -Helen Thomson Well, I am apparently going to Nashville. I pushed the main office on Friday, asking where my hotel confirmation was. And Lo! There it was in my in-bin, yesterday morning. This…
The Professor is a funny mix of experience and lack thereof. He’s lived and studied abroad, he’s got an advanced degree in mathematics, he’s well into writing a six volume science fiction series, and he didn’t know that those whirly-gig seeds that come from maple trees, sycamores, ash and the like are called “keys”. He’s…
What the heck is wrong with me? I’m getting thin skinned and edgey again, and taking offense at things that aren’t worth the calorie expenditure. On a forum yesterday, run by a friend in cyberspace, I encountered a person who personified the reason I don’t want to do private practice. Let’s call her CanineExpert. (My…
And sometimes it begins well too. It mostly begins well on weekends, though. I have to laugh at myself. This diary is mostly for me. Meeting others through it, and getting compliments on it has been a side benefit. I try not to get caught up in the game of writing for others though. Still,…
As a kid I was a spindley little thing. I never ate if I wasn’t hungry, and I frequently wasn’t hungry. It got to the point that my parents (neither of whom were great believers in going to the doctor) ended up dragging me to our family doctor to determine what was wrong with me….
May first. The apartment complex we want to move to suggested I call back this week, since they’d be getting notices from people about this time who were going to be terminating their leases. I called today, figuring people would have had to get back by yesterday if their lease terminated at the end of…
I hadn’t thought about the editing/pacing aspect of it before, but the author’s absolutely right.
A great list. I’m passing it on to BassPlayer.
this is the show that turned me onto sci-fi fantasy. i think i’m the only one in my family to have watched it. i used to make my sister laugh when i’d "sing" the closing theme. great article…have to watch "a taste of armageddon" now…
What a lovely walk down memory lane! Thank you! I was lucky, my Mom loved TOS, so I got to watch them all as a kid. One of my boyfriend "tests" has always been whether or not they enjoyed TOS. If they hadn’t ever watched, I’d turn it on and watch him watching the show. A bad reaction to the show, Shatner bad acting criticisms aside, meant that relationship was a no-go.
