Almost forgot …

I dyed my hair again. It’s been a month since the initial experiment, and all the rinse had washed out of my hair. The grey was back, accusing and surly as ever.

I stepped up from a level 1 washes-out-in-a-month to a level 2 washes-out-in-about-two-months deal. The stuff was a tad more complicated to use, but still pretty straightforward. The change is still subtle, but I can see more bronze in the color, which is a major improvement from brown. I was well pleased with the results.

Until I stepped into the company washroom this morning and saw that MOST OF THE GREY DIDN’T GET COLORED. I am sooo annoyed. The dye didn’t take on my grey hair, and where it did take it now looks blonde. The package specifically said don’t go over twenty minutes, and when I did the little pretest I found out the grey hairs were going to be difficult, so I waited the full twenty minutes before rinsing the stuff out.

I’m going to have to break down and start getting this professionally done if I want to keep up with it. Meanwhile, I have to live with this for two months. Bleah.

  1. Bummer about the heirloom :o(

I wish I was going on vacation in 2 days. Actually, with the boss out all this week, it was like a semi-vacation with waking too early.

  2. i recognize that look of disdain WP is wearing!!!! AND, that "what me?" innocent/devilish look the new edition is wearing..

cute! but man-o-man, i couldn’t deal with a kitten at this point in the game.

    😉

  3. So sorry about your favorite heirloom getting broken. 🙁

The photo is adorable though! The kitten is so damn cute! I remember when my Jazz was a kitten how the older two cats didn’t quite approve of her "playfulness". It was the source of much entertainment.

About your hair… grey hairs are extremely difficult to color. They lose their natural pigment and can be very stubborn for both color and perms. You could try a permanent color and probably have more luck. Though it is a bit riskier if you end up not liking the color. Remember that with semi-permanent colors (like you’ve used) the darker the color, the more coverage you’ll get. Semi-permanents just put a coating of color on top of your hair. Permanents actually CHANGE the color of the hair, so you can go lighter or darker. Be careful but have fun with it!

  4. Love the kitty picture! I’ve seen my cats do the same.

The candlewick sounds like a great collection! Hang onto it– definitely a family heirloom. My husband is into antiques so I’ve learned a bit about the stuff. Sounds like a very nice set! Too bad about kitty breaking the one though. 🙁

    Have a nice vacation!!

  5. sal,

don’t worry about the gray hairs. i’m 18 and i have some! you should check the box of the color you are using to make sure that it covers the gray. if you’re going light, you should make sure that there is some peroxide in there. i think loreal makes one that covers grays really well – andy mcdowell is on one of the boxes. i wanted to go blonde but i’d have to go to the hair dressers to get it done because my hair is a really dark brown. don’t worry about it though. it’s not that big of a deal.

aww! i am so sorry to hear about your candleholders. my new cat cuddles likes to sit on the back of the tv in the living room so i had to move my picture frames and all. the other new cat, brat, likes to fight with her at 2am…lucky me. hopefully your candleholders are fixable.
