I’m back. Anyone miss me?

All in all, it was quite a trip. It did not start auspiciously … they overbooked our flight out of town, and we didn’t know until the literal last minute whether we’d have seats on the plane or not. We lucked out (sort of) and got two of the last three seats. We boarded the plane, had barely enough time to get to our seats, and the plane started rolling out to the runway.

And then stopped.

No air traffic was moving westward out of our airport. We sat on the tarmac for THREE hours, the twenty-seventh of over one hundred planes caught up in this delay. The captain was great, though. He cracked jokes, and invited everyone up to the cockpit for a tour. I gave him and the co-pilot a couple of cup’s worth of gummy bears out of my two pound bag, and they seemed quite appreciative. They let me take quite a few pictures in the cockpit, and then had fun playing with my new digital camera.

We arrived in Las Vegas way too late to catch our connection, and arrived in LA much later than ever planned. Fortunately, we seemed to have used up the worst of our luck on that first day, because the rest of the vacation pretty much fell together nicely.

I’ll try to catch my diary up on the events of the last week in between getting real work done at my desk. But the addict in me needed to at least check in and announce my return to DD.
