The Oyster Bar

Actually, the title has nothing to do with anything, but then again, neither does this entry.

Friday was supposed to be my “easy” day at work. The shifts end early Fridays right now, so I should be able to leave early myself. It didn’t work out that way. Instead of leaving around 3:30, I didn’t hit the exit until closer to 6:00. And, I should add, I left one rather large emergency-type problem sitting there unresolved until Monday. I figured if they could wait until late Friday to hand me their woes, I could wait until first thing Monday to address them.

We’ve had several soft frosts already, and I’ve finally gotten around to taking my plants inside. I fear for my ponytail palm, as the cats appear to think it is being grown for the dedicated purpose of providing them with a 24 hour salad bar to graze on. I’ve put it on the highest, most inaccessible bookshelf I own, but the Little Grey Idiot doesn’t know the meaning of “inaccessible”. As the old song goes, “it’s just a matter of time.”

I made out fine at the dentist’s this morning. There’s some extra stuff they told me I should be doing though, like giving myself a flouride treatment weekly and doing gum massage to help prevent swelling. It never seems to get any easier. At least I get to go every four months now, instead of every three. That gives them an extra four weeks to repair the holes I make with my fingernails in the upholstery of the armrests of the dentist chair each time I visit.

Tonight The Socialist and I are dining out with my friend from the IT department and his wife. He’s taken special interest in me, since his sixteen year-old son became an organ donor after a car accident some years ago. The Socialist even seems a little enthusiastic about going out tonight. There may be hope for him yet!

We’re both enthusiastic about getting to see Birdhouse Man and the Texan Elf sometime Thanksgiving week. It’s been too long, you two!

Thanks to all the support from my fellow oysters from yesterday, by the way. May your pearls grow ever larger and more lusterous.

  1. Glad to hear you’re going out for dinner.

I just may sneak out from the kelp and do the same =)

I don’t cook when the man isn’t here and I’ve gotten a bit bored with scrambled eggs every night.(and afternoon)

  2. We had our first frost October 30th. It came as a surprise because it wasn’t anywhere close to freezing the day before. But since the 30th its been very chilly at night. It felt like winter trick-or-treating. The inside of my mask got all icy from the condensation from my breath.

  3. i don’t blame you for not doing the work; stick it to the man like he stuck it to you!

have fun this evening and keep warm.

you know, i’ll have to ask provasik if there’s an oyster character on sponge bob square pants and if it gets along with the starfish, patrick.

  4. At least a gum massage is less invasive than your other procedures! LOL to the dental chair recovering from YOUR invasive procedure.

Hope you had a great time at dinner last night.
