I like to check in with my site meter once in a while, and see who’s been visiting and how they found their way here. Some IP#’s have become old friends, and while I can’t rattle anybody’s number off from memory yet, I do now recognize a few old stalwarts, like McMurdo or a couple…
Some very nice person sent me a handmade present in totally unnecessary thanks for something I’d done for her. I’m not sure what the proper name is, but I’m choosing to call it a Totem bag because I plan on using it for small keepsakes that have meaning to me. The problem is that the…
Those of you who are still left … I’ve missed you all!
You know that plan to stick it out for at work for two years I mentioned in my last entry? I’m re-evaluating. I got the schedule for the next four weeks that afternoon. After next week, I’ve been cut back to two eight-hour shifts per week. No notice, no explanation, no nothing. When I approached…
So, Slipperman, you want to know how I feel after I exercise? In a word, exhausted. Sweaty, sticky, smelly, painful, out-of-breath exhausted. Part of it, I’m sure, is simply because I am out of shape. But even when I was doing 75 – 100 miles per week on my bike, I hated it. Whatever this…
This morning’s presentation went beautifully, better than I ever expected. The kids in this rotation were involved, the words all came off my tongue the right way, and I know I got all the right points across. I talked for two hours non-stop before lunch, which was the time allotted for me, but I was…
Perhaps you’ve shared some of the magic by showing the unicorn to us? Lovely piece.
Hugs,
Ani
PS I liked the font you were experimenting with. I find microscopic punctuation a bit frustrating, too.
How nice that the shop keeper had a horn added for you! Either he really wanted to make a sale or he was a really nice guy.
Maybe you could wear it for a holiday picture and then have the picture around to remind you of the unicorn on a daily basis without having to wear it everyday.
that was a really nice thing for the shop owner to do. it’s a really pretty piece. thanks for the Gumby & Pali take a test visual. i’m sure the other students got a kick out that too.
Very cool story, lovely pin.
i know what you mean though about "collecting"…. i once had a few Opus penguin things because i loved Bloom County. Suddenly everyone assumed i was into penguins in general and you would not believe some of the things i ended up with, lol!
The peek into your heart overwhelms =*)
Your cherished unicorn has beautiful detail and the goodwill of the jeweler.
btw, where you ever 15?
;p
The thoughtfulness of the shopkeeper must have been captured in the piece.

I agree with Lilith. Great entry. I can barely remember being 15.
I laughed so hard when I read that people thought you collected unicorns!
I once had an aunt tell people that I collected music boxes simply because she thought that I needed to start collecting something. I think I got 6 or 7 music boxes that year and was completly confused as to why. Then its impossible not not get trapped because you don’t want to tell people that you don’t like thier gift, but you also don’t want them to keep buying you useless clutter.
Were not where!
Though where you were would have done too.
It’s wonderful that you’ve kept and treasured it for so long. I have little to remind me of good times from those years, and I would like once in a while something tangible to remind me of the girl that I was then.
If you ever do pass it on, be sure you find somebody worthy. 🙂
I wish I remembered being 15.
Your unicorn is beautiful and I can see he is very special, as he just exudes character 🙂
Treasures are special, so take care of him.
I am glad you survived 15!! I remember 15 very well, and it is a hard period in many peoples life.
Hugs
