Dinner, time crunch and KfH

I had dinner with the guy who works in my MIS department and his wife last night. They’re fun people, and I had a good time. I suspect it was a “pity dinner” on their part; they see me as a lost waif with no life outside the office. This made it hard, since I wasn’t about to tell them much about my life outside the office. We did talk about the upcoming release of Fellowship of the Ring, and I spoke in detail about the forum that I spend much of my free time on, including telling my tales of woe concerning our latest Troll attacks. They want to get together again, and I’ll probably try to include The Professor next time.

The Troll attacks on our and other people’s forums have been coming thick and fast the past week or so. I worry about how we’re going to be able to take care of the forum while on vacation. We have a lot of friends on the board who have volunteered to help out, and I suspect we’re going to have to rely heavily on them. As much as I hate the idea, we may have to set the forum to a “private” status until we return, which means that no one new will be able to visit there. Since new visitors are the life’s blood that keeps a place like that active and interesting, this dismays me a bit. I don’t see any other way around it though.

As for Kitten from Hell – When I got home from work last night from work, I was frantic to get showered, changed and out again. I popped into the shower, lathered my hair, and heard a *thunk* in the tub. I looked down, and guess who it was. Yeah, I know. A no-brainer, huh ….

I have to admit, I didn’t make it easy for her to get out again. She now FINALLY respects a faucet. (I did take pity on her and towel her down before I left.)
