Yet another paracentesis today. We got 5.5 liters, and could probably have gotten at least two liters more, but today’s block didn’t take well. (A “block” is what they call injections of a pain-blocker to an area to anesthetize it.) I started feeling pain about three liters into the draining, and there was no way…
Pills, commas, work and angst.
Well, I dragged my little carcass back to work today. It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be; the sleeping pill didn’t knock me quite as unconscious has it did the night before, and I was already awake when the alarm went off this morning. Being awake does not equate to being competent,…
Paracentesis, Snow and Pictures
Let’s just say yesterday was NOT one of my better mornings. They’d been calling for snow, but I refused to take it seriously. The weather forecasters in these parts are like soothsayers predicting fortunes from chicken entrails. Yeah, they get it right once in a while, but then again, if you guess often enough eventually…
The Fury22 Questionnaire
Interesting how much of this questionnaire I felt did not apply to me. I’m not sure if it really wasn’t applicable, or if I’m deluding myself today. 1. How long have you been on Dear Diary? Tricky question, since I lurked for a while before opening a Diary of my own. My first entry was…

This is the second spring that I’ve lived in this area. The spring before that we were apartment hunting, so even then I was driving these roads I now drive regularly. And it was that spring, two years ago, when I first noticed the Graylag Goose. Actually, I don’t know for sure if it is…
I think it depends on the comment. Most of ’em, you could actually just e-mail the person. If they didn’t provide their e-mail, obviously they’re not very interested in a response. Me, I always provide some way of getting back to me after I leave a comment.
I only e-mail if it’s a private comment. I figure if it’s a public question, then it should be a public response as well (with a few rare exceptions). And, an email doesn’t open things up to public discussion the way comments can, and it’s often the discussion that gets to be the most interesting part of an entry!
i ususally post a private comment to the writer when necessary. otherwise, i comment wherever the conversation started. it is confusing to know what’s best to do, and in some areas of cyberspace, i’ve been banned from journals for having conversations with other posters besides the author 🙁
~~Sal:
I come and read your diary every time you post. You need to forgive me that Im poor writing on comments. But, You know I always visit your DD. :o)
have a good day! Hugs.
I think that leaving a comment in their most recent entry should do the trick. I always check my most recent entry for further comments. Is everybody else like that?
If somebody leaves me a comment that requires a reply, I usually leave the answer to their own diary’s comments so they get the notification. I think it’s a hassle trying to find out if somebody has replied to your comment by leaving a comment in their own diary.
LOL did I make sense? Anyway, the thing you mentioned, that Steve & Matt could put that kind of a reply to a comment thing to the next version of DD, it’s a good idea.

Thank you for starting this conversation. I have spent too much time wondering this myself. I personally enjoy reading comments when the diarist has answered a comment – but then I always wonder if the original commenter ever knew about it.
I’ve responded to a few comments in my actual diary but there were many more comments that I thought about responding to. (Mostly yours I think 😛 They always get me thinking….) My hesitation has always been that I might resort to writing for the audience instead of writing for myself. That and I’ve seen just a few diary wars that started out that way….
I enjoy the thought processes that are started by the comments in my diary and I think I may have to watch your comments today and get some ideas on how to handle it.
Thanks again!

Personally I reply to comments in the diary of the person who left it. That way I know they see it.

I’ve told my mum over and over again she would make a great teacher or guidance counselor… She agrees but I don’t think she believes she can still study a new profession, plus she thinks her current working place will basically crash down if she leaves LOL.
I hope you have a good time when you go out with yourself tomorrow. Put on your #1’s and celebrate being Salamander! LOL
Love,

holy shite! we could conquer the world together. we could even bring boy along to clean up the debris 😉
I try to reply in their own DD to their comment..if necessary because then it will easier for them to knwo. But I have to agree we need some sorta way to get notified.
I have gotten to the point where I will leave a "reply comment" in the person’s diary. This way they are sure to see it. I wouldn’t want to presume that someone has the time to check back on my ramblings to see if I have responded. However, this would be nice to drive the hit meter up!
You got a cyborg name too. Great!
Letting the grandkids play with old toys, they play with grandpa.lol
I can’t wait to hear how you decide to celebrate tomorrow! It’s good to be alive eh???

I often reply to comments on their page AND mine. But I’m trying to cut down on responding to every single comment I get. I used to worry that someone would feel hurt if I didn’t respond. I figure I don’t feel feel hurt, and so probably other people don’t either. Especially if people are responding with different viewpoints, my responding to each comment might make people feel that they had to agree with me in order to comment.
I reply in my own diary to comments in my diary.
Usually people come back anyway, as you do.
If they don’t – well, no worries.
By replying in my own diary EVERYONE can see my response.
It’s a matter of continuity as the diary is mine and the comments are therefore, in a way, mine too – they are directed at me.
Private comments – replies to these, of course, go in the commenter’s own diary.
Actually, I too would love Steve and Matt to give the owner of a diary the option to notify a commenter that you have posted a reply to their comment.
That would be very neato!

Burp, ahem. Guess that’s not a polite thing to do in a comment, huh? 😉 But I live in Texas where the rules of common decency were suspended by the legislature some while ago. Blessings!
The cyborg name is neat.
Comments… i think i usually do something similar to that. i often will check back and see if my comment was strong enough to ellicit a response.
