The problem with a tarp ….

The way I see it, I’ve got a choice.

1) I can let the cherries hit pavement, and then let the birds and squirrels deal with the fruit and then let the rain deal with the bird and squirrel droppings.

-OR-

2) I can put a canopy up. They tend to have sloped tops that will still let the cherries roll down the sides and onto the pavement, where they’ll pile up. Then I’d have to clean the tarp AND the pavement.

-OR-

3) I can try to find a flat topped canopy that will sag as it collects the cherries. The patio will stay relatively clean (except for pink pooping birds), but I’ll have to find a way to clean the canopy.

I’ve elected to take the path of least resistence, and least monetary output.

Oh, and about the cherry pie cravings that some of you have had over this … don’t forget that these are wild cherries. The pit is the same size as the cherries you find in grocery stores, but the entire cherry is perhaps a quarter of the size you’re used to seeing. It would take hours to pit out enough for a pie. Anybody who wants to do so is welcome to come over to my place with a bucket or two. Me? I’ll just let the blue jays feast. It keeps the cats happy.
