And yet again ….

I’m back on morphine. I’m using the left overs from my prescription from last March, when my arm went blooey. Yeah, I know. If physicians who treat themselves have a fool for a doctor, then veterinarians who treat themselves definitely deserve what they get.

It doesn’t matter. My neck is out again. I’ve suspected it might be acting up since Saturday, but it wasn’t until mid-afternoon today that the flare-up started in earnest. And yes, I know I should see the neurologist again for this, but I have my other doctor’s appointment tomorrow, and I can’t afford to take more than a half-day this week if I want to go to California in August. And I want to go to California in August.

So I dose myself with painkiller while applying moist heat to my neck and hope it goes away faster than it did the last time. If nothing else, at least I won’t be bothered with the IBS for a bit. Morphine does a nice job of shutting down my enteric system.

I was only tonight able to finally track down my “study buddy” from the writing class and get tomorrow’s assignment (recall that I migrained my way out of last week’s class). I now discover we are to have written the closing scene for our novel for tomorrow. I’m not even precisely sure how I want to the story to end. I’ve three different ways I can see this going, and was planning to simply write out enough that my characters would end up telling me what they wanted to do. I suspect I’ll pick one of my options and try fleshing it out during lunch at work. It won’t be my best effort, but it will at least be something. Teacher is hell on anyone who doesn’t turn in an assignment.

And now I’m off to morphine and Morpheus.

  1. Hubby and I have been trading off neck issues for the past few weeks. Every week at least one (or both) of us have our neck out of whack. We know it is because we need new pillows, but we just got these ones fluffed (squished) to the way we like them!

  2. Damn, what a nuisance for you. I hope the morphine does the trick, and Morpheus too.

I use tiger balm on my neck (wonder if it was stuffed up by so many ops) but don’t get it in your eyes. And make sure my pillow is doing a good job of supporting my neck.

Meanwhile, you deserve some RnR and a break from pain. You’re in my thoughts

  3. I totally know the pain you are in with your neck …I am still having neck traction 3 times a week for mine ( its wonderful by the way ..really helps ) and its 3 months now since the cervical degeneration was first diagnosed . I find a special cervical pillow helps too . Good luck .
