Have I mentioned recently how much I love my regular doctor? In the course of my life I’ve had good doctors and bad, technically excellent doctors who have no ability to talk in terms the patient understands, and doctors who simply don’t talk at all. And then there’s my GP. I had a 10:00 a.m….
I continue to build up stamina post-surgery, but it’s hard to make headway when the heat sucks the stamina right back out of me. When I first got back from the hospital I was falling asleep every couple of hours, but now I seem to have that reduced to a mid-afternoon siesta. I can take…
I just had what had to be the weirdest phone call I’ve ever gotten professionally. A representative from National Geographic called to ask if they could film Temple Grandin when she visited our company this coming Monday. They are doing a special on autism, and are profiling her as an example of a successful autistic…
“I rarely meddled in the cat’s personal affairs and she rarely meddled in mine. Neither of us was foolish enough to attribute human emotions to our pets.” ~ Kinky Friedman Interesting weekend. Busy weekend. Once again, too short weekend. Friday The Prof and I rented Lawrence of Arabia. I knew it was long, but I…
My list of whinge-able items has begun to shrink. Much of the shrinkage is in direct proportion to the resolution of my little shingles attack. I’m two days completely off the pain drugs now, and while the skin is still sensitive (very sensitive at times) I can now easily tolerate most of the discomfort. The…

Yes. I cried.
Sadly enough I’ve seen something similar. Pardon me while I go into some history of my cat Dusty. Back in ’97 we had a very, very early hard freeze in late September. Ray called me late one afternoon saying that he’d found three kittens that weren’t more than 10 days old in the back of the shop (their eyes weren’t yet open). He’d seen a cat dead in the road by the shop earlier in the day. He called to ask if he could bring them home *rolls eyes*. Like I was going to say no?? Anyway, he got home with them about 15 minutes later. They were so cold they were stiff and their noses and mouths were packed full of dirt from them rooting on the floor trying to find food. We lost one of them almost immediately. The other two, Dusty (her full name is Dusty Q. Popsicle for the above stated reasons)and her sister beat the odds of cellular explosion from rewarming from the hypothermia and all was good for about two and a half weeks. I went in one morning to give them a bottle and saw Dusty kneeding and nuzzling her sister and I thought it was really cute until I got close enough to realize that her sister had passed away in the night. I really think she was trying to revive her and I suspect the cat in the video is doing the same. They probably had run together for years. It’s heartbreaking to watch.
