Since I was a kid one of the major signs of summer for me was the return of the bats. I was entranced by their aerial precision movements as they chased bugs in the twilight sky over the backyard. I’ve stayed enchanted by them into my adulthood, and have been a member of Bat Conservation…
This weekend has been about stoicism. Or the lack thereof. The predinisone I was taking ended today. I started with a large dose of pred on Monday, and tapered down to the smallest last dose today. Mid-week things were starting to feel better. This weekend they are worse than last weekend. My arm feels as though…
You’ll have to excuse me. I’m pissed. I’m really pissed. I probably shouldn’t be making an entry right now. I probably should be cooling off first. takes a deep breath But I’m going with the moment here. I have momentum. I have a good head of steam going. I am royally P.O.’d. I just got…
I got an emergency call from the cat shelter last night. A cat we had just taken to the pet supply store that displays some of our cats for adoption was vomiting pink fluid. I got the call too late to get to the store before it closed, but I was there first thing this…
Can someone tell me what a man who won’t do dishes does with dishwashing detergent? About two weeks ago, I noticed that the little snap lid to the bottle of dishwashing detergent always seemed to be flipped up when I went to the kitchen sink to do dishes. I blamed myself. After all, I was…
“The first of April is the day we remember what we are the other 364 days of the year.” – American humorist Mark Twain And Lord, what fools we mortals be! So far, there have been two successful April’s Fool’s jokes played on me. The first was to wake up to find my car covered…
Yes. I cried.
Sadly enough I’ve seen something similar. Pardon me while I go into some history of my cat Dusty. Back in ’97 we had a very, very early hard freeze in late September. Ray called me late one afternoon saying that he’d found three kittens that weren’t more than 10 days old in the back of the shop (their eyes weren’t yet open). He’d seen a cat dead in the road by the shop earlier in the day. He called to ask if he could bring them home *rolls eyes*. Like I was going to say no?? Anyway, he got home with them about 15 minutes later. They were so cold they were stiff and their noses and mouths were packed full of dirt from them rooting on the floor trying to find food. We lost one of them almost immediately. The other two, Dusty (her full name is Dusty Q. Popsicle for the above stated reasons)and her sister beat the odds of cellular explosion from rewarming from the hypothermia and all was good for about two and a half weeks. I went in one morning to give them a bottle and saw Dusty kneeding and nuzzling her sister and I thought it was really cute until I got close enough to realize that her sister had passed away in the night. I really think she was trying to revive her and I suspect the cat in the video is doing the same. They probably had run together for years. It’s heartbreaking to watch.
