Recovering

Tendon release surgery went well Wednesday. I came out of anesthesia with a dry nose that turned very drippy in the recovery room; by the time I woke up Thursday morning it was a full-blown head cold. I must have been ready to break with the cold going into surgery.

Hand-wise things are going well. The wrist and forearm are currently swathed in about a mile of cotton and wrap, preventing me from moving my wrist much but allowing me just about full use of my fingers. There is minor constant pain, but nothing like what I went into surgery with. I have hopes for a full recovery within a few weeks.

I finished reading Lois McMaster Bujold’s newest book “Cryoburn” this morning. It wasn’t as good as some of the prior Vorkosigan books, but that’s rather like saying Ben and Jerry’s isn’t as good as Edi’s. There’s always going to be someone out there who wants to argue the opposite, and since they are both outstanding ice creams, who cares anyhow?

I didn’t expect the disc that came with the book. It has e-versions of the entire Vorkosigan saga. I’ll need to experiment with how to load them to my little Nook, but it’s nice knowing that I’ll have searchable versions of the books for when I want to look up a factoid or disputed point plot.

Ringworm cat still has ringworm, and is going to have to go without lime sulfur baths for a few weeks while I heal. Hopefully it won’t be too big a set back for her. Although at this point she hardly has enough hair to worry about anyhow. *sigh*

  1. I’m glad the surgery seems to have gone well, and hope everything heals quickly.

That’s a nice touch, including e-versions. I’ve heard some people say they’ve annoyed themselves by buying e-versions of recently-released best-sellers to go with their paper ones, and paying almost double in the process.

  2. So glad your surgery went well and that you already feel better than you did before.

There’s a new Vorkosigan book out?! I had no idea! I feel like rushing over to my library’s website and requesting it; but with the e-book bonus, maybe I’ll ask for it for Christmas. I hate to wait, though! Then again, maybe it’ll give me a chance to re-skim the last few books. I’ve forgotten much since I read the last one.

    Best wishes for the kitty.
