Triple Conjuction.

Yes, what we have here is three cats approching critical mass. Note the glowing demon eyes of ACfH, the refusal of the Warrior Princess to acknowledge the camera, and Clueless Wonder’s , well … clueless expression.

Speaking of Clueless Wonder, lets take a peak at that cat again. Anybody notice anything peculiar about the eyes?

We’re thinking of making Clueless the Cover Boy for this year’s Christmas card.

  1. If I were an amateur dream-interpreter (hey!), I’d suggest that:

Your dream reveals some uneasiness about something that you ordinarily feel more confident about. CfH, as a representative of your family, home-life and responsibilities, might suggest you have some doubts about your ability to protect yourself and those you care about from this ambivalent threat. I wouldn’t interpret the dream as indicating hostility either towards snakes or CfH, but as a vague sense of threat and a fear of inadequate protection.

If I were Jungian, I would point out to you that snakes, while first viewed as a symbol of healing (staff of Aesclepius and all that) and then as a phallic symbol, because they shed their skins, are viewed as an icon of change. And since Jungians regard dream symbols as all being parts of ourselves, it would suggest that you might be fearing some change in yourself, the impact that it might have on your homelife. Perhaps you are resisting this change or transformation, perhaps you feel you should, but in any event your semisuccessful efforts to save CfH–another aspect of you–might point you to which part of yourself you feel is most threatened. What does CfH represent in you? In a strictly Jungian sense, cats these days are said to represent femininity and female sexuality. In Jungian symbolism, water is the icon of the unconscious. I’m not sure what to make of its being contained in such a small vessel. 🙂 Putting the feminine into the water to avoid this transformation, which though you’ve killed remains dangerous and amorphic, might suggest suppressing or repressing some part of yourself to protect it–only to find that in having done so, you have endangered it even more.

In Jungian sense, the glass would be vaginal (think the feminine cup in tarot), the removal of the cat a kind of delivery, the emplacement of the cat a deeply seated need to shelter in the (not so great) safety of the (untrustworthy) womb.

Dream interpretation is quasi fun for me. I think we can read a lot about what’s going on in ourselves through dream interpretations, but while i’m often surprised by how accurate Jungian interpretation can be, I really lean towards the subjective interpretation. You only know what these elements mean to you. Strip them to their iconic value, and you’ll figure out what it means.

  2. imagine that–we both dreamed about snakes last night. i’m ususally the one killing snakes in my dreams, though.

i like moonriddengirl’s interpretation. moving can cause disturbing dreams and you guys will be doing that soon????

once you start writing them down, they get more and more vivid and detailed. just wait! 😉

  3. Great interpetation from MoonriddenGirl!!!

I hate it when I can’t shake off a dream. I had a horrible one several years ago about a bear being in front of our feed store and trying to outrun it. I can remember the smell of the bear and the feel of it’s teeth on my leg. The sensation of blood running down my leg was so real. Then I woke up. Strangely enough, all year in A & P the teacher used running from a bear as an example for sympathetic response. Now I know why people can have AMI’s in their sleep, my heart was pounding.

Re my letter: That was a third draft. My initial response was quite different. It took quite a bit of restraint not to hit the send button, but put it in my drafts folder. I mulled it over all day, as I tend to get very defensive.

  4. I rarely remember dreams either. I did however remember a dream when my husband and I were first engaged. I dreamt he slept with someone I knew and I was mad at him for days. Sometimes you just can’t shake the feelings it brings up. (Hubby says he’ll never stray. I scared him enough, when all I did was dream about it.)

    P.S. I knew you’d chastise me. LOL!

  5. Oh, what a nightmare :(. The only thing I found funny is that you put the cat in a water bowl to stop it from dying :). Dreams can come out of nowhere, I think. It might be you didn’t have any strong "dream material" in your head so your imagination built you a meaningless combination of usual things like your pets and well, I don’t know how often you handle snakes lol.

Or it could mean something. I don’t know, my own dreams confuse me all the time. I have never dreamed of something bad happening to my dogs, at least I don’t remember such.

    *Hug* Take care.

  6. CW must be just practicing as it is FAR too early to even think about Christmas!

As far as the vet, since we just moved back here and our vet from before has retired, this is a new vet. I will be contacting my various Great Dane folks up here to see if I can get a few names of good vets for this and other typical problems my Gentle Giant will be at risk for.

  7. LOL thanks for the morning giggle :D. You should definitely use that pic for the next Christmas cards :D.

Oh, I love the class table and ACfH pics, too! You HAVE TO love that cat!!!!

  8. Hi there Salamander!

    Cool cat and table

Clueless would make an excellent ‘Christmas card’

ps…I’d love to be on your list!! And about the other thing…only if you have the time and energy, otherwise don’t worry about it**

    ; D

  9. No, allimom, believe it or not it’s not too early to start thinking about Xmas cards… I just got a magazine in the mail yesterday and it has Xmas cards in it already!

  10. now, sal, putting that mouse in between the glass table was just down-right cruel. funny, but cruel 😉

    she had it coming.

so, when were you going to tell us that cw was really r2 in a cat suit?

  11. First, those photos and commentary were great.

Second, I really like your living room. It looks comfortable, and has "clean, modern lines." How do you keep your cats from clawing those nice couches?

  12. Oh my….that is the best cat photo I have ever seen!! Brilliant!!

In regards to dreams…that one was rather disturbing to have actually been caught up in it. I have wacko dreams at times, and I have come to the conclusion, some dreams are just stories, no particuliar meaning. They just are!!
