Me. The Cats. 4:40 am.

The crickets are loud. My window is shut, but their incessant rythm makes it through the glass anyhow. At the moment, it’s enough to make me want to re-legalize DDT.

I got up for a Lassix run about 2:00. When I returned to bed, I couldn’t find Purple. While I can successfully navigate my way to and from the bathroom without fully waking up, I cannot go back to sleep without Purple. The search through the blankets became more and more frantic. I got up again without turning the light on and shuffled around to see if I’d knocked him out of bed. Finally, I gave up and turned the light on. Purple had wandered down towards the bottom of the bed, near the Socialist.

Having found Purple, I was once again calmed. But, unfortunately, I was also wide awake. So I tucked him in at my pillow and wandered out to the computer.

I’m not alone though. The usual pair of stalwarts wandered into my computer room shortly after I turned the machine on.

CW didn’t last too long – once he realized food was not part of the current activity plans he wandered on out again. ACfH remains in an impossibly contorted position beside me though. I’d love to pet her, but I’d only wake her up. And at least right now, one of us is sleeping. I will leave it that way.
