Neighborhood Watch

So here I am, on the second floor at my computer, by the window. I am watching one of my neighbors from across the way. I’ve been spying on her for two days. Right now she is hauling a fairly sizable piece of furniture across the lawn and through the trees. It looks like a bar unit of some sort. The is a large painting on the front of it, of a building with a reflecting pool in front of it. It looks rather oriental, though the piece of furniture itself looks anything but oriental.

She’s nearly got it to the parking lot now. I’m rapt. Onto the asphalt, into the middle of the lot she goes, dragging this thing six inches at a time behind her. It’s definitely a bar – cabinet doors in the back, rounded shelves to either side. I do believe she’s hauling this thing to the dumpster. I can’t wait to see how long it stays there before being claimed by some dumpster diver.

I’ve been watching this woman for a couple of days now. Yesterday she threw out a chandelier. It was one of those big wooden wagon-wheel contraptions, with glass hurricane lamp fixtures on top. It looked to be intact, though who knows if it actually worked or not. Earlier today I watched her throw out a glass pitcher and a bunch of clear glass cups. None of the stuff looked broken, though once again I certainly can’t tell from sixty feet away while taking furtive glances through the window.

She’s below my window now. The top shelf of the bar is a bit scratched up, but the bar top doesn’t seem to have a scratch on it. The cabinet underneath has a wine rack (empty) in it. She continues to drag it along, half a foot with each pull. It’s leaving scars in the asphalt as it’s dragged along. That sucker must be heavy. She’s definitely headed to the dumpster with it.

She’s either moving, or she’s pissed at her boyfriend/husband and chucking out all his stuff. The first is probably the truth, but the second tickles me more.

She’s got to be kidding. She just opened the door on the side of the dumpster. She isn’t actually proposing to pick this thing up to throw it in, is she?????

Blast, I got a phone call and missed what happened next. Don’t know if she actually tried to lift that sucker or not. The door on the side of the dumpster is still open, but the bar is on itside, leaned up against the dumpster.

I can’t wait to find out what she throws away next. Maybe I’ll wander downstairs and check out the bar.
