H&R

A hit and run entry, for a hit and run kind of day. I’m packed and ready to head southward to North Carolina, where the temperatures are running at least ten degrees warmer than they are here. I found out yesterday that we need coveralls for the wet lab on Saturday. I went home and tried on my old ones from vet school, afraid they’d be too big. They are large on me, but they’re comfortable, and it isn’t as if I’m supposed to be making a fashion statement in these things. The only downside is that they are short sleeved, because I concentrated on dairy practice while I was in school. Either you know why dairy practitioners need to wear short-sleeved outfits, or you don’t. I’ll save that discussion for another day.

I was sitting on the steps this morning, arranging my medications and itinerary in my carry on bag when the Grey Menace mewed and then forced her way under my arms into my lap. I’m forced once again to wonder if she really understands that when I’m playing with a suitcase it means that I’m going away for a few days. I ended up five or so minutes later to work than I would have liked because of some last minute quality time spent with G.M. and with Clueless, who wandered over to see if all the fuss included anything to eat.

I ate breakfast and lunch today, anticipating that dinner is either going to be very late or non-existent. I also bought a small bag of gummy bears to tide me over on the plane. Yeah, I know, I know. But a girl has to keep her blood sugar level up, right?

I still need to confirm flight times, check in with all the departments that owe me paperwork, and finish up some paperwork on my own. There will be no computer available to me in NC (I think) so this is the last you’ll see of me until Sunday at the earliest.

  1. I hope you have a good time. A wet lab sounds… odd 🙂

Yes, I do know why they wear short sleeves.

Our cats knew about suitcases. When we were travelling every three weeks, it got to the stage where Kimi mewed piteously when he saw the suitcase.

  2. re: short sleeves

Not sure if the reason is the same, but your comment here brought back to mind all the different cow incidents in all of James Herriot’s books.

    Eeeeeewwwwww!

  3. HeeHee, I know why they are short sleeved too!

Hope you are having a great time on your trip in warmer climates. I do know what you mean about being excited to go on a trip, then less as it draws closer.
