All about me.

Enough about eyeballs. Let’s talk about me.

First of all, the pain is improved from my disc problem. In its place, I’m starting to get transient numbness/pins and needles. This is like the hypoesthesia I experienced back in ’96 or ’97 or whenever the heck my neck went out the last time. The prednisone seems to be doing it’s magic, but the course of steroids ends Sunday. I’ll see if this is temporary relief of the real thing early next week. Either way, I have made up my mind to contact Dr. Neck after I’ve completed the prednisone and have him check things out.

I really wanted to avoid getting yet another doctor involved in my woes. I already have a primary physician, a liver doctor, a heart doctor, an oncologist (don’t ask, it amounts to nothing), a gynecologist, and the whole Big City Hospital liver transplant department to deal with. (I dropped Dr. Asthma and Dr. Foot because my GP seems more than able to deal with both of these problems.) None of them can be considered competent when it comes to passing on information to any of the others. And frankly, I blanch at the thought of having to relate my entire melodramatic medical history to yet another doctor. It’s getting close to the point where they’re going to start charging me extra for the additional paper it takes to record the last decade of my life.

I find myself once again doing battle with my scanner. You may recall that I finally got it to talk to my computer after hours of futzing around earlier this month. I scanned a couple of items successfully, and assumed that the problem was now fixed.

You know what they say about the word “ASSUME“. It makes an “ASS” out of “U” and “ME“. Well, OK. Sometimes it only makes an “ASS” out of “ME“.

I didn’t bother with the scanner for about a week after I successfully got it working. Last weekend I again needed to scan something. I booted everything up, went to Select TWAIN and … surprise … there once again was no TWAIN to select. Once again my computer and scanner refuse to speak to each other. The scanner is perfect. The cable is perfect. The computer is … well, OK, the computer has it’s problems, but none of them have to do with recognizing what’s plugged into its ports. Perfection in all its various forms continues to result in a computer and scanner that have apparently gone behind my back and gotten a divorce due to irreconcilable differences. I’m getting really exasperated with trying to play marriage counselor to these two inanimate objects.

Thanks to the three of you who put yesterday’s entry up for entry of the week. I know who two of you are, and have a very strong suspicion as to number three. With any luck this won’t go to my head, and I’ll continue to be the sweet, loveable megalomaniac you’ve all come to adore and worship.

  1. Thank you. My dog I just had put to sleep was the one who was suffering from this, in the end was told most likely it was something in his brain because he was also howling and stoped eating in the end. Took him to two different places with this sudden onset problem (litterly he woke up from his nap like this), and being very lathargic (sp?). They each had different ideas, but the only thing I just kept getting told it was idopathic. There was nothing bacterial in his blood. His white count was a little bit high. His blood was tested for everything under the sun. Without driving him in pain for an hour, there was nothing else they could test him for. Wish they thought like you did about being a symptom of a problem. You gave me information I was looking for. Thank you. And sorry for being a pain.
