An Abbreviated Update

(originally posted on DearDiary’s Community Chat Forums while DD was having the hiccups)

I can see that a lot of us are going through major withdrawal symptoms while DD undergoes major surgery. I feel like someone just sitting around the waiting room until the surgeon is done and comes back to let us know how the surgery went. I guess if DD administration were paid at surgeon’s rates they’d be at least a little happier about the time this is going to rob them of.

This will be the first free weekend I’ve had in a few weeks. Nothing’s planned, and I’m damned happy about it. The weather should be nice, and I’m hoping I’ll be able to con The Socialist into going to play miniature golf with me. I’ll have to do a bit of general clean up around the apartment too. The piles are getting big enough to start using as furniture, which is my clue to start some serious throwing out/putting away.

Work is, as always, eating me alive. Another department made a huge change, and I only found out about it Tuesday, after they’d already implement the change. This affects all the work I do in that department. I have documents to rewrite, procedures to change, programs to get tweaked … and all this is for a program I never set up, but just had dumped on me. Can we say “Clueless” boys and girls?

Remember the geese I mentioned out back of where I work? Well, I was driving past the back stretch of the building yesterday afternoon, and saw the two of them close by the road, acting as if they owned the pavement. When I drew nearer, I saw that they were busy herding four yellow-green fluffball peeps over to the water reclamation effluent. Looks like the little goslings will be getting their first swimming lessons in a heated pool!
