And the Balls Come a Tumblin’ Down

I had my first treatment for CTCL for 2011 today. Hard to believe I’ve been doing this for three years now. The drug I have to take before getting the light treatment sensitizes me to ultra-violet light for 24 hours so I end up either having to wear weird goggles to help prevent cataract formation hiding in rooms with the blinds drawn for the day following treatment. Still, there’s been absolutely no recurrence of the cancer for over two years, so I’m hardly in a position to complain.

On my way home from treatment I did stop off at Cheeburger, Cheeburger (not to be mistaken for I Can Has Cheezburger) for lunch. I calculated that I could have a basic cheeseburger and side salad for half my Weight Watcher points if I got the salad without cheese and the cheeseburger with feta cheese. Ordinarily I’d never consider a feta-burger but, in all honesty, it came out pretty good. I’m hoping that eating out this afternoon will make being good easier tonight.

I spent this morning over the torch making more beads. I’d like to make something that The Prof’s mother would like, but I don’t know her well enough to actually make an intelligent guess about. Christmas presents still have not been taken care of for The Prof’s side of the family, so I need to do more than pretend to think about it at this point. It isn’t clear whether or not The Prof will end up making a California trek before his new semester starts, so I’d best come up with something quickly or I will look like an absolute ingrate for the checks I received from the Left Coast.

Tomorrow is Little Christmas. Time for the decorations to come down for another year.

  1. I’m lucky in that Curmudgeon takes care of the prezzies for his side of the family (which is much bigger than mine) himself. I just find out about it afterwards. Like, "Oh, yeah. I bought everybody birdbaths this year. Except Brother #2 who’s getting a gift card. So Mom will get her birdbath and will call Sister and Brother #1 and find out they got birdbaths. Then she’ll call Brother #2 and ask how he likes his birdbath, and he’ll be at a total loss."

  2. I would not complain either to be honest with you if treatments happen to help keep certain illnesses at bay. I do blood labs every month because I am a kidney transplant recipient of 23 years as of March 12 and they indicate any problems. I have had my labs drawn this month already on the 4th and everything is fine and good there. Hang in there and God bless!
