Those of you not on a high-speed connection have my apologies in advance for this entry. I couldn’t force myself to reduce these pictures as much as they required. For some reason my camera was able to compensate for my complete lack of artistic ability on this trip, and I managed to get some wonderfully…
I picked up WP’s ashes on the way home from work tonight. When I got Clueless Wonder’s ashes back some years ago they came in box covered in a bright red satin print. I ended up finding a nice raku art piece that doubles as an urn. WP’s ashes came in a beautiful little wooden…
I returned from lunch to the message light blinking on the phone on my desk. The transplant coordinator from the Big City Hospital had called to let me know that my MELD was at 18. In her words, she says that we have to get me “a little bit sicker”. In other words, we need…
Being naive, I googled “oriental vs. Asian” to see where I had gone astray. I hate unintentionally offending anybody; I prefer any offensive remarks to be painstakingly planned. My first hit was: Model Minority: The Guide to Asian American Empowerment. Until this very moment, I had been quite unaware of either the “left-wing-politically-correct-thought-police-mind-control” or the…
I continually underestimate The Prof [insert head hung in shame here]. He got things fixed with the apartment management this morning, and they’ve agreed to extend our lease for an additional month, which is all we need to accomplish the move. No penalties, no grief, no problems. The Prof brought the paperwork over for me…
I was asked about Earthwatch yesterday. I first mentioned it in my diary entry of March 13th, and I’ve been playing with the idea off and on ever since. They have quite a few one week expeditions to different areas of the world that let you work with scientists who are conducting studies on biology…
this is the kind of letter that is tough to write, but you pull it off. too bad they can’t know more about you.
I think that’s pretty good. I tried to read it from the recipient’s perspective. I think that you waited until this time of year is actually very good. The first holiday season after losing a loved one is very difficult, and this letter might make it easier. The only thing I might even suggest to add is that you are taking exceptional care of their child’s liver, that you don’t drink and are careful about medication that could damage it. They might feel better to know that the doctors are unsure as to why your original liver failed but that you were not engaging in behaviors that could have put you at risk. Oh, and you could add that it is working normally.
The above are just suggestions, and those particulars are not necessary, I suppose, but if it were the Kid, I would feel better to know that whoever got his organs would take good care of them.

Beautiful.
That letter made me get teary eyed,,,and that’s rare for me. It is a beautiful letter.
I am thankful that you got that gift.

Great letter. You have always had a way with words.
Beautiful…
Beautiful…
Beautiful.
What a beautiful letter.
I would not change a thing.
Telling them about your past health would only make them sad and they do not need to know that.
You did an excellent job telling them just what they needed to know….that you are leading a ‘normal, healthy and happy life’ once again, thanks to their ‘decision’.
That will make them ‘happy’ knowing that they did they right thing. Also knowing that part of ‘them’ is living on, in you, is comforting to them, alone.
Again….
What a Beautiful letter.
Love,
Honey
P.S…
You letter also tells them…
What a ‘Beautiful person’ you are.
I think it’s a great letter. I think you did a great job showing how much a difference it has made to your life. I’m glad you were able to find the words.
