Another pic of the New Addition

I like DD, but I dislike this apparent need some diarists have to prove that “so and so” is really “such and such”. Who cares, people? You like it? Read it. You don’t like it? Don’t go back. I assure you, a hit meter that shows you were the only person in your diary for the last 24 hours is more compelling than leaving nasty or witty comments. The ultimate snub in my book is to fail to acknowledge someone else’s existence.

I got tricked into entering yet another of these “let’s keep the flame war going” diaries last night. I’m getting to the point where I may just stop entering the diaries of anyone who I don’t recognize and respect. Which would be a shame for any newbies, but certainly better for my own peace of mind.

Which is more than enough of that.

I inherited some Imperial Candlewick from my mother’s estate. Actually, “some” is misleading. I have place settings for twelve, along with serving bowls, condiment thingies, salt wells … you name it. My favorite items (and the reason I liked this set) were flower/candle holders. They are candle holders with a deep wavy base that you can set flowers in. My mother always brought them out at Christmas time and put short pieces of pine in them, with pine cones and tiny gold Christmas balls. I’ve put all the candlewick safely away, save for those two pieces, which I have out on a long accent table next to the “entertainment center”.

The Clueless Wonder has recently taken a liking to sitting on top of the entertainment center, which is easily the highest perch in the apartment. My books all say it’s a cat dominence thing; the higher the cat is, the more its proclaiming its dominence of the territory. Frankly, I think in this case it’s simply a bid for some peace and quiet away from the new kitten. Whatever his reasons, I’ve been trying to dissuade the Clueless Wonder from making this his new “spot”. Every time I catch him on the approach, he’s gotten the squirt bottle treatment.

Last night, after we went to bed, Clueless must have made another bid for the perch though. When I came out this morning, one of my Candlewick flower/candle holders was in two large pieces on the floor. I actually heard it happen last night but when I went to check things all seemed to be in order. It was only in the light of morning that I caught on to what happened.

I’m heartbroken, but I can’t blame C.W. I should have taken the breakables off that table the moment I realized what he was up to. Too late to cry over spilt milk.

I have a picture of the new Kitten. In it she’s jumped up on the Warrior Princess’ chair and awakened her during a snooze. WP was less than pleased, and I only wish I had sound to go along with the picture. The growls emanating from the solid body were a hoot. She never once laid her ears back or made any move to hurt El Stupido though, so I suppose even the Warrior becomes tolerant after a while.

Two days until vacation!!!!!!
