D-Day.

So, yes, this is Dentist Day, boys and girls, when Salamander is forcibly dragged out from under her rock and strapped into the dentist’s chair. I couldn’t sleep last night … ended up staying up past midnight washing my new dishware, packing the remnants of the old stoneware up, and emptying the contents of the dining nook desk into boxes so that The Ex can pick it up on a moment’s notice. None of this was even mildly cathartic. The Professor wasn’t much help – I had hoped he’d tell me if he wanted any of the stuff I’d stored in the desk or if I should chuck it, but he was far too busy stuffing the Kitten from Hell into boxes and watching her escape to want to have anything to do with the task at hand. Which isn’t to say he wasn’t dismayed when he saw me tossing out certain items. But, let’s be honest. If I’ve saved it for fifteen-plus years and haven’t used it, how likely am I to need it now? Some things were ancient; there were some pencils so old the erasers on them were rotten. Time to purge. There was still quite a bit of stuff that I held on to that perhaps I shouldn’t have, but the second round of purging can wait until the weekend.

The Prof and I went shopping last night as well. He’s decided he wants to learn to cook (I wonder what brought that on), and he’s decided more specifically that he wants to learn to cook Indian food. That’s fine by me. He’s been doing quite a bit of reading, though he hasn’t found a cookbook to his liking yet. He tells me he wants one with lots of pictures, so that he knows what the final product is supposed to look like. I’ve tried to explain to him that the best cookbooks don’t include pictures, but instead have lots of detailed instructions, but he is insistent, and this is his show. He purchased a food processor last night to help him with his intended endeavors. I really hope this works out, but I wish he’d picked something easier to start with. He frustrates easily, and Indian cuisine demands long cooking times and a lot of attention to detail. I have my worries….

I also came home last night to no Professor and piles of unwashed dishes. Turns out he was out shopping for ingredients he’ll need for Indian cooking. While he was gone, I put away all the dishes in the rack, and washed all the dirty dishes from Sunday night’s meal. He never even noticed I’d done them. I’m not sure if I’m relieved or pissed. I said nothing though, and will continue to say nothing. At least I got my way.

Crap, I wish this dentist visit was over with.

OK, what is trek13.sv.av.com and why would I have 94 hits from it in the past 24 hours? More to the point, why is it showing up on my DD counter but not my Site Meter? Inquiring minds want to know.
