More pics, little news.

Let’s start with the fun stuff first, shall we?

The Clueless Wonder doesn’t get nearly enough press. His feline acne isn’t showing any particular improvement, and he now runs when he sees me coming because he thinks I’m getting ready to Oxi-pad his poor cratered chin. Twice a day he’s right to run. I feel like a heel. That stuff must sting, and there’s no way to keep it from getting on his lips the way he tosses his head around, so he’s forced to taste the stuff as well. This was taken a couple of mornings ago, when CW and KfH were sharing the window:

As for KfH, she now has three large paper bags to play in. I had hopes that if I provided three bags there would be enough to go around to every cat that liked playing in them. Since KfH prefers her bags to be occupied by somebody else, and since nobody else wants to play bag with her, she ends up with all three bags by default.

This next picture is a little dark because of the backlighting, but I loved the look on KfH’s face. She is obviously mugging for the camera. CW and WP tend to back off from the camera because of the flash, but KfH has learned that camera equals attention. And attention is almost as good as chocolate.

KfH has taken a peculiar liking to my mouse pad, and I frequently have to push her off of there when I’m trying to work at the computer. You can just tell by the look on her face in this one that the mouse pad is simply a launch point to get to other, more interesting places in this case.

Finally, I have no idea what KfH is looking at in this picture. She lifted her head and stared at something a split second before I snapped the picture. I love the pose, though CW apparently could care less.

KfH continues to show no ill effects from her gastronomic adventures of two nights ago. Indeed, last night I caught her up on the kitchen counter licking the juices off of the Professor’s dinner dish (we had ham last night, and KfH seems to appreciate honey glaze residue). I’m at my wit’s end as to how to discipline her. She doesn’t seem to mind the spray from the squirt bottle unless it’s a full blast point blank to the face. She knows she isn’t allowed on the table or kitchen counter, but seems to interpret that as she isn’t supposed to be caught there, not that she shouldn’t jump up there. She’s stolen the plastic cover to my camera’s battery pack – I saw her with it this morning, but I made the mistake of going to get the squirt bottle before attempting to recover it. In the fifteen seconds it took to grab the bottle, she managed to lose the cover somewhere. I guess I’ll have to go hunting for it when I get home tonight.

OK, on to stuff other than cats. It appears that I’m still not fully over that bronchitis thing. I woke up in the middle of the night again last night unable to breathe, and the inhaler didn’t help. I had to actually get out of bed, since the only thing that appeared to make a difference was to actually sit up. I got four or so hours of sleep (second night in a row for that, with the kitten/chocolate thing being to blame for loss of sleep the night before). On the plus side, I’m so brain dead that today is passing quite nicely. I just have to be careful to not get caught falling asleep at my desk.

On totally unrelated matters, I’ve decided I’m going to take a Latin course being offered during the spring semester at the Prof’s college. I’ve always wanted to take Latin (I love etymology) and figured it would be a way to get me out of my rut and to give my brain something more challenging than filling out the blank spaces in reports. The Professor thinks I’m nuts, but that’s his problem. I’m looking forward to it.

The Prof seems to be getting work done on his novels again. This makes me feel better, since I suspect I’m the reason his progress has slowed so much on his work. I hinted around that I’d like to see a couple of the revised chapters, and he didn’t seem to have a problem with that. None have been forthcoming though, and I don’t want to ask again in case he’d rather not share them at this point.

A final note of interest – I’ve been found out yet again. This time it was by my friend the Hafling, who keeps a very popular diary on this site. He sent me a very contrite e-mail, saying he read three pages but wouldn’t be reading any more. I wrote back pointing out to him that I didn’t have a particular problem with his knowing about it, although there were people I expressly did not want reading this. He agreed with both my request and my reasons, so I’m not in any particular panic about it this time. I’ll be curious to see if he stands by his promise not to read any more (which I’ve already absolved him of) or if he comes back for the occasional peek now and then.

Site meters are wonderful things.
