Enforced Three-day Weekend.

I dealt with things as I usually deal with unpleasantness when I have the opportunity. I slept in. On the down side, getting up at 10:00 still meant I had less than 8 hours sleep.

Part of my sleeplessness was a wee problem I’m having with hemorrhoids at the moment. Actually, not so wee hemorrhoids. I believe I finally understand why George Brett nearly didn’t make the 1980 World Series. (Let my knowledge of that little factoid astonish those who know I loath organized sports.)

Part of my sleeplessness was an itty bitty problem the Socialist had involving his car and another car at 10:30 yesterday evening. As is usual with cases of this kind, when metal meets metal, both sides lose. It was my fortune to be treated to all the gory details of this intimate meeting of auto to auto at 1:00 this morning. I do feel sorry for him; his brand new car is mushed. I just wish I could have felt better about myself so I could put more sympathy on the table for him.

Today I emptied a few more boxes, watered what plants I have, spent some quality time with the Socialist, and played fetch with the kitten up and down the stairs. It doesn’t even make her slow down. Just the idea of going up or down the stairs at this point makes me feel like I need to sit down.

Got a call from work this morning – I’m allowed to go in to see the company doctor at 10:00. I already spoke to my own doctor about the situation, and he thinks it’s ludicrous I was made to take the day off. With luck, I’ll be permitted full return to duties by Tuesday. That will make this whole thing easier to take. I can’t stand sitting around without anything to do.
