Twilight Zone

I’m rather betwixt and between today. I don’t know if it’s the residual aura from yesterday still clinging to me or if I’m still sleep deprived, but I’m walking through the day in a haze. I even called one of my coworkers (whom I know well) by the wrong name. Whatever the reason, my coefficient of ditziness is definitely up.

I still can’t straighten up fully today because my abdomen is so painful. I’m walking around like some little old grande dame in her nineties – all hunched over taking little precise steps and a look that just dares you to offer to help her. I caught sight of my reflection in a display cabinet window, and I look ridiculous. I’m hoping this wears off soon.

I got home from the hospital yesterday in the early afternoon, and pretty much crashed on the sofa for the rest of the day. I did catch an episode of the original “Outer Limits” on the SciFi channel, and it was one I remembered fondly. It was titled “The Hundred Days of the Dragon”, and was second episode of the orignal series in the sixties. I remember being totally spooked by the ending of that episode as a kid, and I have to say that the special effects held up well, even if the plot was hopelessly overtaken by current events in the decades that followed. Considering the state of mind I’m in, I supppose that a few of the original “Twilight Zone” episodes might have been more appropriate.

Tomorrow and Thursday I attend a conference in the Big City to get continuing education credits for my license. Dr. Twenty-Cats is going downtown with me. I hate to do it, but I may ask if she’s willing to drive us. If I’m like this tomorrow, I don’t want to trust my driving skills on the city streets. Dr. Twenty Cats is a driving fool; she often puts on more than 100 miles a day on her car traveling to work or her folks’ house. I don’t think she’ll mind. Especially since I got the company to pick up her tab for the hotel.

I’m becoming more and more pleased with my new layout as I tweak it about a bit. Next step is to start playing seriously with the font colors to ensure good contrast. I like the way that the entry titles and the Welcome page are just a little difficult to read though. It gives the illusion of a true palimpsest, which is part of what I was shooting for. The entries will have to contrast better than that though if I want to maintain my readers’ sanity.

I’m not displeased with my temporary solution to the comment problem, but I may just remove the iframe and leave it as a link only. The darned message board is just too cumbersome to work in an iframe. I’ll leave it go a bit longer as is. I’m open to suggestion/comments/feedback if anyone has anything to offer.

It’s quite cold out, and they say it may snow tonight. I wish I had a fireplace that the cats and I could curl up in front of, while The Socialist feeds logs to the fire and brings me hot chocolate. A life of laziness would suit me right now.
