Taxes, Trivial Pursuit and Spring.

Well, I still didn’t get the taxes done, but that’s only because the guy I wanted to use was tied up all day today. I have an appointment 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. So that, at least, will put the last big thing I have hanging over my head to bed.

The Socialist and I finally finished that stupid Trivial Pursuit game that’s been going for two weeks. I won, on a sports and leisure question, but it was absolutely pure luck. The question had something to do with “What future presidential candidate signed off of some trade of some player from somewhere to somewhere else?” I didn’t have a clue, so I tried to be facetious about it and said “George W. Bush”. Turns out that it was the right facetious answer. The Socialist took it with good graces – by rights he was robbed of the game.

I slept until 2:00 this afternoon. That’s mostly because I didn’t get to sleep until quite late last night … actually, this morning rather than last night. I won’t bother getting into they whys and wherefores except to say that it wasn’t insomnia and I slept like a log when I finally did tuck myself in under the covers.

I woke up to an absolutely gorgeous day. It was in the mid-sixties out! I’d forgotten what mid-sixties felt like. The Socialist had errands to do, so I took myself out for a drive (after discovering that I couldn’t get the taxes done until Tuesday). Windows rolled down, the doo-wop station cranked up, and a full tank of gas in the car. It just doesn’t get better than that.

Got the dates for the SciFi channel shows mixed up. “Riverworld” isn’t until later this month. “Children of Dune” starts tonight though. Tonight I plan to couch potato, which anymore is my version of “eat, drink and be merry”. Tomorrow it’s back to the grind.

  1. The mid-60’s? That sounds wonderful…a full tank of gas sounds pretty darn good too. Gas is $1.85 gallon right now.

I think my plans will be similar to yours…

  2. Pali, I am glad to hear that you had such a nice day and that you have your tax appointment secured.

TruamaMama, I would LOVE it if gas here in northern California was $1.85! The cheapest gas in my town is now $2.04, at least that’s how much it was yesterday. It probably went up again today, as it seems to everyday lately. Of course, here in CA, those prices are for "self-serve." If you wish to have an attendant pump your gas (like ALL gas in Oregon) it starts at $2.29 for regular and goes up to nearly $3.00 for super. Thank heavens I don’t live in San Francisco, the prices there are about fifty cents a gallon more. Needless to say, I have cut down pleasure travel to a bare minimum. I wonder how long it takes to get cabin fever?

  3. I hope Children of Dune lives up to your expectations. 🙂 Or, if you’re like me, exceeds them. The SciFi channel has done a lot of quality programming, but I’m highly skeptical of sequels.
