58 Staples.

Finally got a chance to take an accurate count of the little buggers last night. Yeah, I know. Color me bored.

Since the operation, I have been doomed to sleep on my back. This is not a good thing. I never sleep on my back, but always on one side or the other. While the staples are in though this is simply not possible. Unfortunately, being stuck between a rock and a hard place ususally means the soft, squishy thing in the middle has to give, and in my case it has given with a vengence. I threw something out in my back in bed last night that not only precluded any chance of getting sleep, but which eventually drove me to get up hours before I was ready to. I’m basically sleep-typing at my terminal at the moment, hoping the spasms will pass enough that I can try to snooze on the sofa downstairs.

Cattitude has just left for the veterinarian’s office. She’ll be having a little lump removed from her shoulder. It’s probably nothing, but there’s a chance it’s something called a sarcoma, which some cats developed in reaction to older style vaccines. Young cats don’t seem to have a problem, but cats that were vaccinated in the early to mid-nineties sometimes develop this, and it should be removed as soon as possible if it does turn out to be a vaccination induced sarcoma. The vet will have her under general anasthesia for this, and will clean her teeth while she’s out for the count. I suspect when Cattitude returns home tonight she is not going to be a happy camper.

Kitten discovered television last night. She’d noticed it before, for specific things, but would quickly lose interest and wander away when whatever moving object disappeared from the screen. Last night, though, they played a Purina Cat Chow commercial, and she became *very* attentive. Then, after the commercial was over, another commercial came on with more movement. She was entranced. She spent two hours with me, her eyes never leaving the set. I suspect she’d have stayed longer, but a thunderstorm moved in, spooking all three cats, and she darted off to some place of safety.

Working hard at not feeling down, don’t know if I’m making any headway. I do know one thing, though. I need sleep.

  2. I expected to come here and find new lyrics to that old song ”26 miles across the sea, santa catalina is a waiting for me”

Removing the 26 miles and replacing it with 58 staples.

58 staples is a lot of hardware dear pali. It must look as bad as it feels. Now your back is out. I hope there is something on TV that won’t suck the intelligence out of you.(isn’t day time awful?)

Every day is one day closer to a good night. Hope it arrives soon.

  3. Holy Moly, 58 staples! StrangeBrew is right…each day that passes means another day closer to feeling better. If you could just get some sleep, somehow, somewhere I know you would feel better.

I hope somehow you find it.

  4. Shaking my head and laughing, you had to have been bored to count that many staples!

    That is alot of staples.

Have you tried warming up some milk and adding a teaspoon of Honey to it. This is a great relaxing and sleeping aid. I read about this when I was was pregnant years ago, and it really works.

    Love,

  5. After my surgery I camped out in my living room. I put sheets on the couch to make it more comfortable, propped a bunch of pillows on the arm and spent I think two weeks out there. I pretty much kept the tv on and drifted in and out of sleep.

It worked out great because I couldn’t lie flat and I just didn’t sleep well…so at least I didn’t interupt hubby’s sleep.

I hope you find something that works for you. I’m sure some rest will do wonders for your spirit.

  6. Wow, that’s a huge number of staples!

The Poopy will sit and watch TV with me for ten or fifteen minute intervals when I turn on the Animal Planet channel.

He also seems to like hockey. Sometimes we can even get him to bark when we wave our arms in the air and bounce up and down, chanting, "Go, Devils! Go, Devils! Go, Devils!"

  7. oh my, i hope you’re feeling better today. perhaps acfh discovered tv for your entertainment, knowing it would bring you a chuckle. isn’t she precious? 8)
