Funiculi Funicula

I’m behind. Last night was spent at the Elder Sister’s – she had called me the day before to let me know she’d invited old friends of our parents for an impromptu dinner and invited me to come. The timing was awful, since I needed to go home and pack for tonight, but I haven’t seen these people for several years. It was a nice evening (though my sister doesn’t cook the shrimp in shrimp Creole thoroughly enough for my taste), but going left me harried and rushed for time.

It didn’t help that I had a doctor’s appointment with Dr. Liver yesterday afternoon before the dinner. I ran from work to his office to my sisters. The appointment went well though. He’s pleased with my progress, and doesn’t want to see me for three months. All my liver numbers are well within normal limits, with no sign of rejection.

When I got home last night, I immediately fed the furry piranhas their lunch and dinner simultaneously and then headed upstairs to pack. It took longer than it should have, but I got everything together and downstairs by the front door, ready to go this morning. And now I’m marking time for the last hour of the last workday of the year, waiting to get out of here so I can start heading north.

My original intentions were to have this last entry of the year be a philosophical, introspective look back on the events of the last year. Time has overtaken me though, and there is simply no time to make such an entry. Perhaps this is fitting though. Life goes on in its wait-for-no-one manner, dragging me in its wake. I’ve been riding the roller coaster for the past year (and longer). No reason it should slow down now.

Happy New Year.

  1. I’m really glad your liver numbers are fine. That’s a good start for the year.

By the way, thanks for your comment (you know which one) – it was a bit of a scary time.

    Enjoy! @>–;—
