Clueless may be home, but for a cat with a history of gourmandizing, he’s amazingly uncooperative at meal times. If left to his own devices, he’ll only eat a few kibbles and then wander off in search of a better place to sleep. Warrior Princess and The Grey Menace now bolt their food and then…
Things are quiet here under my rock recently. The cats are easing into their summer laziness, and aren’t doing much worth reporting. Well, the Grey Menace did find another spider to play with, but this one lasted far shorter than the spider I documented her playing with last year. She’s still rough with her toys,…
August, 2010 I made an entry called “Batless Belfry ” (opens in new window). Anybody remember? Well, it’s still happening, folks. I saw a grand total of two bats all summer, in an area where I used to be able to spot dozens in the summer twilight. The National Speleological Society has a good summary…
There is such a thing as a free lunch. The company Christmas lunch is tomorrow. Roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans almondine and cheese cake with topping for dessert is the menu. Bonus checks get handed out at the same time. I think I already spent mine on my car’s headlight assembly. I haven’t decided…
There are definitely spoilers here. For those who want to read, highlight this entry to make it readable. It isn’t my intention to ruin the movie for anyone, so if you haven’t yet seen it you may want to skip this until after you’ve had a chance to view it. Having been asked what I…
as a cat with expectations of being fed. The Professor’s cat and I have come to an understanding – I allow him to feed, groom, and worship her and she’ll tolerate my presence at those times when the above three services are not required. The Professor is abed at the moment, and the Warrior Princess…
FINALLY! what a Beautiful surprise!!
I don’t know what it is, but I can’t wait to find out. It is beautiful. The flowers remind me a bit of our Mexican Bluebell/petunia but white, though the plant is entirely different. I’ll keep my eyes open.

I am told from the good folks at GardenWeb.com that they are Canterbury Bells, the Campanula media, NOT the double-flowered form known as "Cup-and-Saucer". I can find loads of the cup and saucer pics, few of the true Campanula media but here is one, so far –

The white flowers look like yours. You can see the violet cup and saucers as well.
Still hunting for the perfect link…

oops! Sorry, I’m wrong about pulling it out. It’s very pretty flowers you got.
Hugs, ao
Thank goodness it has been identified!! I have been wating with bated breath for what seems like forever to find out! I have never grown canterberry bells so I truly had no clue. I am off to the nursery here in a bit myself to get some datura, moonflower, and morning glory. I am hopelessly behind on the gardening front.
plans?
juz to let you know i am back.

*puts down chair and bullwhip*
Thankfully I don’t have to try to fend off the plant.
Bzzzzztt. WRONG! Thank you for playing.
I guess it’s not a weed after all!
I recommend the Colonial House simply for the interesting contrast in modern to historical contrasts. Some of the behavior of the people on this show just floors me. The way they treat their agreement to follow through with the traditional lifestyle so lightly speaks volumes to me about our whiney society these days….
Oh, I could go on and on…. it’s just a thought provoking show. ALL the "house" series shows have really engaged my interest.
They are beautiful…well worth the wait. Somehow I think the mystery added to their beauty and our enjoyment.

They are beautiful. Well worth the wait and suspence.
Well done, Yarngirl!
And how embarrassing, as I grow Canterbury Bells myself 🙂
It’s nice to see your patience rewarded with such pretty flowers.
Hooray for Yarngirl.
After putting a name to the little dickens I found it easily in my plant books.
AudreyII, what a great name.
Cool plant!
My rosebush, alas, is apparently withering. The leaves are turning yellow. I just don’t have a green thumb!
I loved Little Shop Of Horrors, thats how my cockatoo Seymour got his name. And yes, sometimes we sing the "Suddenly Seymour" song.
The only plant I’ve ever grown has been one from a pinto bean. I swear they grew taller when I put the radio on for them. Still never found out if it grew a pinto bean bush, plant, tree, whatever, lol.
Feed me Seymour!
Cool looking flowers, I might have to put some in next year.
Alli
I’m glad now, I didn’t suggest you pull it out and chuck it in the compost! 🙂
The flower looks gorgeous, I have never seen one like that before. And no teeths or nothing ;). My kind of plant.
I’m going to start harassing my local cd store to get me End of The Summer. The title of the song you mentioned is kind of dorky but the lyrics sounded good and I’m in love with Mortal City and want to hear more. I came across Dar’s cover of Starman on-line the other day and really enjoyed it!
Btw, is Little Shop of Horrors a new movie? ‘Cause neither of our film rentals carry it :(. If it’s a movie then I’ll feel better because there’d still be a chance of being able to rent it in the future.
Thanks for your kind words of support regarding B on my Thubten diary.
I thought of you when I saw this on telly… Inga Clendinnen, who is the author of ‘Tiger Eye’ – which is about her experiences as she waited for and finally received a liver transplant.
She is one of the authors ‘on show’ at the Sydney Writers’ Festival, being held this week. I’ve written up more about her on my Seeking diary, or you can read more at this link:

The campenula is gorgeous. Its amazing that something so delicate can withstand a storm. I’m thankful someone let you know it’s name.
(I’m a keen thunderstorm watcher myself, but i don’t have a good vantage point these days)
My daughter has a mission: to get every movie of note on DVD, and Little Shop of Horrors is one of them. I must watch it with her at the weekend. She’s been trying to cheer up her father for a few days.
I hope your migraine DISAPPEARS totally! Can’t have you squinting all over the place, how will you find your way to the P*ps* machine?
Oh dear, I just got the joke about Audrey, and the Little Shop of Horrors. Sorry I’m so slow 🙁
