Welcome to Day 91 of quarantine. The best sources say that most ringworm will heal on its own without treatment in three months. For three months SLFC has been in quarantine, with regular baths, creams and pills. The room has been disinfected daily, her bedding changed out every time she’s bathed and any toy that can’t be cleaned has been discarded. All to no avail; last week she began losing hair at the margins of all her old ringworm lesions, indicating the fungus is on the march again. She’s even developed another new bald patch, this time over her left eye.
Every seven days or so I’ve been taking pictures of SLFC to track her lesions. It turns out that this has been a good way to track how she’s doing. I spent part of yesterday copying some of the pictures over into a new file that tracks the ringworm over the course of her incarceration.

At this point I’m at my wit’s end. If someone had come to me complaining that their cat’s ringworm wasn’t resolving at this point, I’d have to wonder how compliant they were being. Which means I have to wonder at this point where the hell I’m screwing up. It’s one thing to mess up when the only thing affected is yourself, but at this point it’s hurting SLFC. We’ve got another vet appointment tomorrow night; this was supposed to be her first culture to check and make sure she was cleared of the fungus. Guess that’s not happening any time soon.
Ugh. I really hope that can be cleared up soon, somehow – for the sake of both of you.
Die, ringworm, die!
Ugh, how horribly disheartening. I hope the small-animal vet has something helpful to suggest.
are they sure it’s ringworm????????? just checking. 91 days is a long time to be in quarantine. bless the little satan.
Poor little thing, and poor you! I’ll keep hoping for both of you.
