Television on the Edge of Forever
I completely missed the 45th anniversary of the premier of original Trek last week. For others who care, this is a great little article:

Cat from Hell met up with her first up close and personal encounter with Nature this evening. I knew something was wrong when she wouldn’t respond to the call of the dinner bowl. Investigation revealed a Cat too engrossed at the balcony door to be willing to break her rapt gaze for something as mundane…
From: Renewal Date Posted: 5 Nov 2003 So did the Socialist ever get his flu shot and if so, how did he handle the needle? So far, he’s handled the needle just fine. His mode of handling it is avoidance; if you don’t get the flu shot you don’t need to face the needle. He’s…
Would you like my mask? Would you like my mirror?Cries the man in the shadowing hood. While I was driving to the Polish Festival on Sunday, a rather nice looking (albeit young) dude in a drop-top red and sporty something-or-other passed me rather slowly. He had his CD jacked up, playing Loreena McKennitt’s “Marrakesh Night…
The Socialist took yesterday off from work so he could take care of arranging to get his car fixed. I was rather impressed with his insurance company – less than twelve hours after he got hit his car was in for estimates. The Socialist, of course, spent most of the day admiring his half-empty glass…
Bonus points to anyone who can identify the song and group the title line is paraphrased from. My arms are literally covered with bruises from carrying boxes around for the last week. I’m on coumadin, a blood thinner, so I do tend to bruise a little more easily than the average person. But this looks…
Looks like I’m going back for more tests – a bone scan and a chest scan. They found an “irregularity” on the MRI and can’t rule out a carcinoma. It isn’t likely, but it isn’t impossible either. The area is probably just a nodule of hepatic regeneration; when a liver gets as bad as mine…
I hadn’t thought about the editing/pacing aspect of it before, but the author’s absolutely right.
A great list. I’m passing it on to BassPlayer.
this is the show that turned me onto sci-fi fantasy. i think i’m the only one in my family to have watched it. i used to make my sister laugh when i’d "sing" the closing theme. great article…have to watch "a taste of armageddon" now…
What a lovely walk down memory lane! Thank you! I was lucky, my Mom loved TOS, so I got to watch them all as a kid. One of my boyfriend "tests" has always been whether or not they enjoyed TOS. If they hadn’t ever watched, I’d turn it on and watch him watching the show. A bad reaction to the show, Shatner bad acting criticisms aside, meant that relationship was a no-go.
