Television on the Edge of Forever
I completely missed the 45th anniversary of the premier of original Trek last week. For others who care, this is a great little article:

The Professor is close to “normalizing” his sleep schedule. Tonight he should be going to bed around 7:00. Which means he’ll be getting up early tomorrow morning, rather than late in the day. We’ll actually be able to do a day trip on Saturday, complete with an early start. I thought I’d show him some…
I mentioned a few episodes ago that the Little Grey Shit has been diagnosed with feline triad syndrome (pancreatitis, cholehepatitis, colitis). We caught it early, and it’s been pretty responsive to steroids, Flagyl and Ursodiol (which thins the bile, helping the bile empty from the liver and gallbladder to prevent inflammation). Steroids tend to give…
Actually, it won’t be four years until Thursday. I’m not updating with any particular frequency these days though, so I thought I’d make mention of it now, when the mood stuck me and I had some free time. It’s only been four years, but I am not who I was. I started this diary because…
Last night I did something I’ve never before done in my life – I watched an awards ceremony on television in its entirety. If someone can tell me why, I’d love to find out. I’ll admit, I was curious to see how “Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring” would fare. I didn’t expect…
I’ll get the depressing stuff over with first. Got a call from the Specialist’s office yesterday afternoon – they want to go ahead and do a bone marrow biopsy. It’s just one of those “we want to be sure” things, but there are certain blood disorders (I love a good euphemism) that could produce the…
Apparently, science can now clone Kitten from Hell. I could have a little army of KfH’s running rampant through the apartment. I strongly suspect that their destructive capacity would increase logarithmically rather than arithmetically with the addition of each new KfH. Rainbow, the biological “mother” with cc (carbon copy), her clone Notice how pudgy cc…
I hadn’t thought about the editing/pacing aspect of it before, but the author’s absolutely right.
A great list. I’m passing it on to BassPlayer.
this is the show that turned me onto sci-fi fantasy. i think i’m the only one in my family to have watched it. i used to make my sister laugh when i’d "sing" the closing theme. great article…have to watch "a taste of armageddon" now…
What a lovely walk down memory lane! Thank you! I was lucky, my Mom loved TOS, so I got to watch them all as a kid. One of my boyfriend "tests" has always been whether or not they enjoyed TOS. If they hadn’t ever watched, I’d turn it on and watch him watching the show. A bad reaction to the show, Shatner bad acting criticisms aside, meant that relationship was a no-go.
