Wrapping for Cats

Yup, it’s that time of year again, when the new star burning brightly doesn’t herald the birth of a new King, but instead signals me the there’s an incipient ulcer flaring in the GI tract. It’s my annual “wrap books for donations to the cat shelter” event at the local branch of a national book store chain. The cat rescue I work for traditionally covers the last two to three weeks of book wrapping for the store, garnering several thousand dollars in donations and pretty much assuring me of several weeks of stress and anxiety.

Stress and anxiety aside, it has managed to keep my mind of Friday’s doctor appointment. I continue to read and research as much as possible, but my time is limited because of the time commitment I’ve made to wrapping. Just as well. Wrapping for cats remains my anchor to sanity for a few more days.

  1. I just spent the afternoon wrapping at Borders for my mother in law. She’s a member of the Philharmonic Society and all the proceeds go for music in the schools. I’m always happy to see the 5 & 10’s hit the donation boxes, hope it goes well for you as well.
