The First Fireflies
Itâs a warm night, and Iâm typing this on my trusty little Acer out on the deck. We have new deck furniture this year, inexpensive and sorely needed. The deck itself needs attention, but I try not to focus on that overly. Time for that when I can pay for it. Still no news on…
Mommy’s Little Thief
Things I’ve learned in the past week: – Cat don’t like getting pins poked into their ears– Cat ears bruise pretty easily– Cat ears only bleed about 25% of the time after being poked– A cat that has endured a full week of ear-poking without even once thinking about biting the hand that pokes it…
OK. I’m officially
pissed off now. The Prof stays up till 4:00. He comes to bed and then tosses and turns, keeping us both up until I give up and get up twenty minutes early, with less than four hours sleep under my belt (because he felt the need to come into the bedroom and wake me up…
Beyond the Random Crap of Living
Thereâs Living, and then thereâs Life. These days I find myself so enmeshed in the Living part of things that I lose track of Life. Itâs a forest for the trees sort of thing. When I do have time to search the forest, I sometimes find myself contemplating mortalityâs end. It isnât the sort of…

M minus 2
It’s been a fine weekend and confirms my love of October. Today was the kind of day that makes fall the best season of all. It was bright, just a tad nippy out, and the leaves just had a hint of red and yellow to them. Foliage season is coming, but fall is definitely here….
Bravo! The Swedish Chef cracks me up every time.
It reminds me of when I took high school band trips on the school bus and we’d all sing our parts together to the pieces we were working on.
It didn’t sound as good as the muppets, though. 😀
LOL! I miss the Muppets.
Animal! A – ni – mal!
I was in band in high school, along with all the other high school geeks. We played Stars and Stripes Forever and in a fashion very similar to this we would sing our instruments’ parts on bus rides. It was fun and I can still do it, although never in the same range as the piccolo I usually played for this song. But the sousaphone players couldn’t sing in their instruments’ range, either. I was lucky to have been a versatile player. Sometimes I played flute or piccolo and sometimes I played one of the saxophones. Heck, I even played drums or glockenspiel on occasion. It just depended on what we needed at the moment.
Oh for the old Muppet Show days….
