I get a weekly update from USA jobs of openings the government has in my specialty. Most would require moving a fair distance, but I keep my eyes open just in case one were to become available within commutable distance. I was fairly surprised yesterday evening when the weekly update appeared in my inbox indicating…
Taking life for granted.
I’ve been listening to a lot of PRI radio these days. I go through phases of it. Eventually I get tired of listening to music radio, especially when none of the recent new releases grab my attention, and I’ll drift over to Terry Gross and Todd Mundt and Marty Moss-Coane. Then the time will come…
Unexpected kindnesses and other things.
Wednesday. Humpday. Halfway between here and there. An otherwise unremarkable day. I’m going into work later now – I’m at my desk at about 8:00 each day. I was hoping this would make for more endurable days, but I’m now finding myself nodding off at my desk at about 2:00 in the afternoon. So far…
Salamander’s Quiz
This day is not starting well. Four o’clock in the morning, I was awakened by a persistent scratching at the bedroom door. I rolled over and ignored it, but it wouldn’t go away. Just to make life more miserable, my kidneys decided to wake up at about the same time as the door-scratching started. Between…

Music: the newest DD craze.
*sigh* I feel like somebody’s raining on my parade. Fury22 and doppelganger have both added music to their diaries. This means I can no longer risk opening those at work. (Before anyone tells me to simply turn off my sound, I need to leave it on because I need incoming mail alerts. Not only that,…
Bravo! The Swedish Chef cracks me up every time.
It reminds me of when I took high school band trips on the school bus and we’d all sing our parts together to the pieces we were working on.
It didn’t sound as good as the muppets, though. 😀
LOL! I miss the Muppets.
Animal! A – ni – mal!
I was in band in high school, along with all the other high school geeks. We played Stars and Stripes Forever and in a fashion very similar to this we would sing our instruments’ parts on bus rides. It was fun and I can still do it, although never in the same range as the piccolo I usually played for this song. But the sousaphone players couldn’t sing in their instruments’ range, either. I was lucky to have been a versatile player. Sometimes I played flute or piccolo and sometimes I played one of the saxophones. Heck, I even played drums or glockenspiel on occasion. It just depended on what we needed at the moment.
Oh for the old Muppet Show days….
