Chucking it all …
I met a woman in vet school who has become a good friend. She was the member of our class that kept me from being the oldest person in our class (I was 41 when we graduated, she was 42). During the stress of exams (in other words, all the time) we used to half-joke…
Rejection
So THAT’S what acute organ rejection feels like. I’m on a ton of drugs, some old and some new. The steroids are doing a freak-out number on me again, but they’ll be tapering down soon now. Thanks to the steroids I’m a newly minted diabetic; with luck that will also taper down along with the…
The Shifting Black Hole
Just got a letter from the state. My unemployment is extended through the last week of July. Why I should feel like less of a free-loader when I’m on unemployment than off of it is up for grabs, but at least I’m pulling some cash flow into this household while I look. The best prospect…
Hey Slipper – 2 out of 3 ain’t bad!
I may not be as multiple as Slipperperson, but if I could be Dorothy Parker, I’d gladly give up Robert Frost and only give up Sylvia Plath with just a little tug of dismay Take the Which Poet are You? Quiz – brought to you out of boredom and pretention! Take the Which Poet are…
Today I turn Six.
Today I turn six. For those of you interested in full details I refer you to last year’s entry on thisToday I Turn Five. I’ll provide a Reader’s Digest version for anyone who has better things to do than dredge up my past entries, though. On March 21, 1997 I collapsed at school and was…
“Penny Dreadfuls” and a Rant
It would appear that in the mid-eighteen hundreds Valentines Day was more of a chance to lampoon love than celebrate it. I came across a reference to “vinegar valentines” today, and since I am who I am I had to find out what that meant. This lead to me several illuminating sites on “Penny Dreadful”…
Bravo! The Swedish Chef cracks me up every time.
It reminds me of when I took high school band trips on the school bus and we’d all sing our parts together to the pieces we were working on.
It didn’t sound as good as the muppets, though. 😀
LOL! I miss the Muppets.
Animal! A – ni – mal!
I was in band in high school, along with all the other high school geeks. We played Stars and Stripes Forever and in a fashion very similar to this we would sing our instruments’ parts on bus rides. It was fun and I can still do it, although never in the same range as the piccolo I usually played for this song. But the sousaphone players couldn’t sing in their instruments’ range, either. I was lucky to have been a versatile player. Sometimes I played flute or piccolo and sometimes I played one of the saxophones. Heck, I even played drums or glockenspiel on occasion. It just depended on what we needed at the moment.
Oh for the old Muppet Show days….
