I haven’t heard from my sisters in a month. I must be healthy. I assume they are too, or I’d have heard something by now. We have heard from The Socialist’s artsy aunt and uncle however. They’ll be coming to Philly again in a couple weeks to attend the artisan’s convention. It’s a by-invitation-only gathering…
Some people are bird watchers. Other people spot trains, or collect baseball cards or try to visit all fifty states. Me? I get to add another disease to my lifetime sick list. Actually, I guess I get to add two diseases, since chicken pox hadn’t previously bee on the list either. I don’t know what…
*sigh* I keep forgetting that this site works on Greenwich Time. I forget that when I make evening entries tomorrow’s date comes up. The entry before this should have been dated for the seventh, but it appears I messed up yet again. You’d think after two years I’d get the hang of this, but apprently…
I finally begin to the transition from having my emotions buffeted by world events to focusing again on my personal sphere. I feel almost guilty for doing so, but life couldn’t go on any other way. My mother died somewhat unexpectedly a year ago today. I had wanted to visit the gravesite today, but I…
Over the weekend, I had at least a dozen visitors to my diary who arrived through my Salamander entry of 6 May 2002 entitled “New apartments, turtle tanks and work” because they were using a search engine looking for key words “turtle tanks”. I have no idea what gives here, but I strongly suspect that…
The Mojave tell a story of the earliest days when the First People lived in perpetual darkness deep within the earth. Desperate for a better life, they sent a hummingbird out to find light. Searching the cracks and crevices of their underground world, the hummingbird finally finds a difficult, twisting way to climb to the…
"On the day Agnes died…" Is this Nadia? The name threw me for a loop when I thought another character was being introduced.
I like it though!
Alli
I was going to make the same comment as Alli….
I also enjoyed it! I don’t know that I could have done that. I tend to ramble on and never get to the point. Great job!!!
Megan
I liked it too! It drew me right in.
Damnit, still can’t access your friends only entries :(.
Ah, those ARE a lot of constraints!
AND having to name the characters in meaningful ways…. could set me off into the looney bin.
I ALREADY have a hard time naming in my stories….
But it’s true, writing to parameters DOES make you stretch. Paramiters? Paramaters?
Specific requirements! There!
Hope you get a good grade.
Very nice. Well done. I like the name Nadia. My bf’s father died of Leukemia. Some rare form not discovered until it was much too late to do anything about.
Best of luck with your writing class!
I too liked it, however it does not "feel" you are writing this.
I love your usual style…long, rambling and stops along the way about all the little interesting facts you normally *ramble* about.I love it when you stop us readers in mid sentence to smell the roses.
I was left feeling *I want more*. Does that make sense? Sort of got the bread without the filling.
I echo what Elf said.
