I know they’re over, but the feel of “holiday” still lingers. The little white lights in the snow and ice still give me the warm fuzzies. The cats in their Christmas collars still look too adorable to put back into their everyday harness. I still like turning on my Christmas tree at night and watching…
– Amos Bronson Alcott I stumble through the progression of days as if the impediments I encounter are always new, as if the furniture that occupies the rooms of my life has always been rearranged over-night and the lights are always off. The furniture has not been rearranged. The lights are usually on. The impediments…
Have I truly made no entries since before Christmas? Granted, my overambitious goal of one-a-day entries fell by the wayside many years ago. Weekly updates, ditto. But apparently even the (once) obligatory Christmas/New Year entry got lost this time around. I have spent the past month or so re-reading all my entries from beginning to…
The robins have returned to my winter-stricken version of Capistrano. They say it is bad luck if you see your first robin of the season on the ground; “A robin on the wing brings good luck through the spring”, or something like that. I saw perhaps half a dozen of them on the ground yesterday…
I clocked in at 7:00 this morning. The soonest I could get any news is 8:00, and there’s no guarantee I’ll hear anything until 10:00. It’s five degrees out, according to my car’s thermometer (-15 for you Celcius types). I had two cats (Grey Menace and Warrior Princess) keeping me warm in bed. I have…
I had my first treatment for CTCL for 2011 today. Hard to believe Iâve been doing this for three years now. The drug I have to take before getting the light treatment sensitizes me to ultra-violet light for 24 hours so I end up either having to wear weird goggles to help prevent cataract formation…
"On the day Agnes died…" Is this Nadia? The name threw me for a loop when I thought another character was being introduced.
I like it though!
Alli
I was going to make the same comment as Alli….
I also enjoyed it! I don’t know that I could have done that. I tend to ramble on and never get to the point. Great job!!!
Megan
I liked it too! It drew me right in.
Damnit, still can’t access your friends only entries :(.
Ah, those ARE a lot of constraints!
AND having to name the characters in meaningful ways…. could set me off into the looney bin.
I ALREADY have a hard time naming in my stories….
But it’s true, writing to parameters DOES make you stretch. Paramiters? Paramaters?
Specific requirements! There!
Hope you get a good grade.
Very nice. Well done. I like the name Nadia. My bf’s father died of Leukemia. Some rare form not discovered until it was much too late to do anything about.
Best of luck with your writing class!
I too liked it, however it does not "feel" you are writing this.
I love your usual style…long, rambling and stops along the way about all the little interesting facts you normally *ramble* about.I love it when you stop us readers in mid sentence to smell the roses.
I was left feeling *I want more*. Does that make sense? Sort of got the bread without the filling.
I echo what Elf said.
