An acorn is not an oak tree. It is a sad thing when the acorn must be uprooted before it unfurls even a single leaf, but is not an act of deforestization. There are times and places inappropriate for acorns to grow. I have yet to see a person who complains of and prays against…
Well, the deed is done. Summer is truly over. I removed the dead and dying morning glory vines from the fencing today. It made me a little sad, and a lot philosophical. A few of the vines had somehow missed being killed by the idiot construction workers and by the hard frosts we had this…
Damn, why didn’t I do this years ago? I didn’t get rid of all the grey – it appears that some of the grey hairs are as resistent to change as I am. Still, 95% of it is gone. I was afraid of ending up with hair that was all the same color (which looks…
Running a little fever right now. It’s to be expected – I spiked a few in the hospital too. I’m only at 99.4 and the “danger limite” is 100.4 Fahrenheit, so I’m not particuarly worried. Just unconfortable. Today was my first clinic. For the next six weeks I have to return to the hospital Tuesday…
I clocked in at 7:00 this morning. The soonest I could get any news is 8:00, and there’s no guarantee I’ll hear anything until 10:00. It’s five degrees out, according to my car’s thermometer (-15 for you Celcius types). I had two cats (Grey Menace and Warrior Princess) keeping me warm in bed. I have…

"On the day Agnes died…" Is this Nadia? The name threw me for a loop when I thought another character was being introduced.
I like it though!
Alli
I was going to make the same comment as Alli….
I also enjoyed it! I don’t know that I could have done that. I tend to ramble on and never get to the point. Great job!!!
Megan
I liked it too! It drew me right in.
Damnit, still can’t access your friends only entries :(.
Ah, those ARE a lot of constraints!
AND having to name the characters in meaningful ways…. could set me off into the looney bin.
I ALREADY have a hard time naming in my stories….
But it’s true, writing to parameters DOES make you stretch. Paramiters? Paramaters?
Specific requirements! There!
Hope you get a good grade.
Very nice. Well done. I like the name Nadia. My bf’s father died of Leukemia. Some rare form not discovered until it was much too late to do anything about.
Best of luck with your writing class!
I too liked it, however it does not "feel" you are writing this.
I love your usual style…long, rambling and stops along the way about all the little interesting facts you normally *ramble* about.I love it when you stop us readers in mid sentence to smell the roses.
I was left feeling *I want more*. Does that make sense? Sort of got the bread without the filling.
I echo what Elf said.
